Per the report, Payton would have brought Jeff Ireland with him from New Orleans to serve as G.M.

The fact that the Saints were willing to consider parting ways with Payton and that, apparently, Payton was willing to go will do nothing to end the annual “Sean Payton Could Be Leaving The Saints” reports. With Saints quarterback Drew Brees under contract for only one more year and taking the position that there won’t be an extension, maybe this will raw the year when the reports are finally right.

Bit interesting

Trade him for thier 1st and 4th, future 2nd or 3rd. Get a defenseive guru at HC, keep Pete Carmichael.

Get an LSU player Fournette/Adams. Get that Bama LB #10

but busts from other schools were better! Like SJB from Nebraska and The LB from UT chattanooga! Plenty more examples around!

Take it with a grain of salt. Every report has been false for 2 years now! Wouldn't put a whole lot of stock in anything those guys report

reports like these are not healthy for the organization. 2 yrs in a fricking row now. Can't field a winning team with ownership/management in chaos. Temper your expectations for future success

Eventually someone will be right and then they will say I told you so.

If payton cant get it together next year he needs to go. He has blown having one of the best qbs in football history by using the buddy system.

It probably went something like this:

Phone rings in Loomis' office

Loomis: This is Mickey

Colts: Yes, this is the Colts. What would it take to get Sean Payton to be our next coach?

Mickey: Umm, How about your next 3 drafts, Andrew Luck, and a little something something from every Colts cheerleader. That way Sean would get my sloppy seconds for once.

Colts: Nevermind

Mickey: I didn't think so.

Source: Saints never spoke to Colts about Sean Payton

Posted by Mike Florio on January 22, 2017, 9:24 PM EST

NBC SPORTS

quote:

The Colts have denied it on the record, and the Saints eventually may do the same.

For now, a source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that no one from the Saints at any time has ever spoken to the Colts, directly or indirectly, about a deal for coach Sean Payton.

Colts COO Pete Ward has denied talking to the Saints, but Ward has said that a “Payton associate” called the Colts to gauge interest in the possibility of obtaining Payton by compensating the Saints.

Payton remains under contract with the Saints and there’s no indication that either side plans to change that reality, or that any team plans to try to secure the rights to Payton.

they have no choice but to deny it. There is no doubt in my mind that Payton's camp reached out to the Colts through back channels to inquire about the job.

You really want Wade Philips as head coach? He was a complete failure as a head coach in Dallas. He's one of those guys that you want as a coordinator and nothing else.
