I have seen Mr Benson up close. He doesn't know what day it is... Literally !

I don't want Payton fired because I can't imagine who Benson would hire who would be a better coach, but the Superbowl honeymoon is over.
Jim Henderson said he got a call from a Saints official and was told the head coaching job was down to two coaches and they would likely go with Dikta. He felt a little discouraged until he heard the other candidate was Lou Holtz.

As a Sean Payton Apologist, I agree with this.

Sean has no excuses after this season.
We will have at least 30 million this off season to work with, if Sean wants more Mickey has more than enough options this year to generate even more cap on top of that figure.
We are no longer bare on defense. We have acceptable talent at every single level of that defense. We need to compliment it with getting healthy and adding more to it this offseason but that defense is by far the ripest it has been since 2013 in terms of personnel.
The offense needs a couple pieces as well but should easily be a top 5 unit again next year.
The only things that can hold this team back from making the playoffs next year will be Sean's staff or Sean.

Probably. I'm just not sure that I see Benson actually making a push like this at his age.

We have no active ownership
That's the real problem

Nah - look at his record the past 4 years. He's doing a great job. We should give him an10 year extension.

Absolutely. Should have fired him after the 2nd 7-9 season with the back to back 0-4 starts. But what did we get? A 3rd 7-9 season. And what do we get this year?? A 5-11 season. And don't say " but, but, but who are we going to get to replace him"? ANYBODY! Is my answer.

Be careful what you ask for.

Our talent has been down the last 4 years relative to our playoff teams of the past. Some of that is CSP's fault, but it is what it is. We've been rebuilding the last couple of years, but some people don't want to accept it. That being said...he has no excuse for next year.

Seriously? Look at our record for the past 4!years:
2016 = 5-11
2015 = 7-9
2014 = 7-9
2013 = 7-9
I'll gladly take my chances.

Wasn't this year supposed to be a make or break year?

We're not going 5-11 this year. It'll be 7-9 or 8-8. But I do kind of agree with your point.

we went 11-5 in 2013.
Then we decided to say peace out to all our vets and let junior be a captain.

We had a good record in 2013. We're in the final year of our rebuild(minus the 2017 offseason). Deal with it & give him one more year. CSP has always done well when he has talent to work with. I'm on board with calling for a new coach if he can't get it done next year.

No
Roger Goodell should be fired. Rich McKay, Chairman of the NFL Competition Committee and an Atlanta Falcons employee should be fired. A select few owners need to be investigated for their role in orchestrating the "Concussion Lawsuit Bountygate Contrivance" against the Saints. Roger Goodell is a vindictive individual that will never allow Sean Payton to be successful despite Paul Tagliabue's findings. Unfortunately, the Saints and their fans will have to wait like the Raiders did, for the NFL "old guard" to retire.
