And why not?

If we're going to let the NFL become an open forum on political views and topics, don't limit it. Have someone ask the players and coaches about
abortion,
inner city violence,
the strange contradiction of having a huge welfare system to pay people NOT to work while simultaneously having millions of illegal immigrants coming to America TO work,
education failures,
and other such topics.

And if/when they say "I don't really know about that", tell 'em: Hey, you want to lecture us on politics, if you don't have answers, maybe you should stick to football.

Shouldn't he be trying to figure out how Saints get back into playoffs?

I missed the part in his tweet where he said "I, and my employer the New Orleans Saints, believe that..."

should he create a Twitter account "Sean Payton's personal opinions" ??

Should we contact this guy's employer and let him know what he's doing on company time?

Go for it. You have every right to do so.. He has every right to voice his opinion.. Benson has every right to discipline him for it.. and apparently the whole world has every right to be butthurt about anything and everything

His defenses cause cancer. How many people have died from that cancer?

We also have to tell the whole story...

How many violent crimes have been stopped due to firearms

This will never be cut and dry

We can become stricter with guns all we want but fhat will solve nothing. Drugs are illegal yet that happens all the damn time. The LV shooter had illegal weapons. What we can try to do is take mental illness more seriously, we are seeing more and more psychopaths.

Sadly this guy seemed normal to everyone.

I hate to say it but this is simply the price we pay to own, stockpile and be so obsessed with guns in America.
That literally sucks to type but it's true. We'll never change anything, ever, and I learned that after 30 innocent kids were gunned down at a school (Sandy Hook) and people we're just like "eh... what can ya do?!".

It's never a priority to solve ... until your kid or your loved on gets gunned down. So yea, frick it. Let's not even debate this topic. On to the next story...

The World Health Organization is calling for action to reduce the harmful use of alcohol, which kills 2.5 million people every year. A new WHO report notes nearly four percent of all global deaths is related to alcohol abuse.

WHO says the harmful use of alcohol now is the third leading risk factor leading to illness and death from non-communicable and communicable disease

Where's the public uproar about alcohol. Might as well throw in tobacco too while we're at it. For the record, I'm not against either, just making a point.

2/3 gun deaths are suicide. If someone wants to kill themselves, they will find a way.
I don't really have a dog in this fight, but I have to point out how false and dangerous this narrative is.

I'm a psychologist, and one of the first things you do when you hear a client is suicidal is ask if they have any guns.

Acute suicidality is temporary and opportunistic.
That's why hospitalizing suicidal people for a few days is so useful.
They're over the need to kill themselves by then.

I'll give an example.
Tons of people jump off the golden gate Bridge every year.
One year, while filming a movie, they prevented people from jumping.
They decided to check up on them later on.
They found that, after seven years, over 90% of the people who attempted suicide were still alive.

It's actually not that easy to kill yourself.
I've seen people fail in all sorts of ways.
But it IS easy to kill yourself with a gun.

Clearly you don't understand the way to solve all society's problems is to tweet statistics about said "problem" and hashtag it with common sense without clearing defining exactly what that means.

According to studies, not many.

How many lives would have been saved if concert attendees had brought their guns?

ZERO

If anything more would have died in the confusion.

I mean there's plenty of public outcry and awareness campaigns about both. You can also hold multiple thoughts in your head.

For the record, I'm not against guns, just making a point.

Actually... who knows about Sunday but clearly, an armed society is a polite society. But everyone knows that concerts and sporting events are soft targets.

Now show one with abortion.

Violent crime has been dropping since the 90s for a variety of reasons. Claiming causation there is silly, same with those who try to do the same with the abortion argument
