Per Schefter

At least four teams have looked into signing recently-reinstated RB Ray Rice, including Indianapolis and New Orleans, though the Colts are not expected to pursue him, per multiple league sources.

frick yea, we could use him down the stretch. Give him a contract for the rest of the season and see how he pans out. I dont see what is to lose here really with all the injuries we have

Wow I would call bullshite but Schefty usually has his ducks in a row

The Saints -- fighting for first place in the NFC South, with multiple banged-up running backs, in a city that would not be overly concerned what NFL commissioner Roger Goodell thinks -- would qualify.

sign Rice to piss off Goodell

While I agree that signing him won't hurt anything, it doesn't really help us. Running back isn't currently a position of need. We need offensive lineman and defensive (insert position here) help, not running back. I won't be upset if we sign him, but would like to see focus on other areas.

Wow, the Saints normally don't go anywhere near players with baggage.

Only one that sort of comes to mind is Shockey....and I don't recall that being a legal matter.

Brees could tell him to shut the frick up....Eli couldn't I guess

Well we have been without Robinson for a while now, Pierre just came back. Never know if another will go down. He would be a good situational and 3rd down back IMO

If they sign him I'm taking all of my 2 year olds saints shirts and shipping them to poor kids in Western Australia.

Good possibility we lose Ingram to Free agency and Thomas aint getting any younger. Better then anything out on the market and he's served his time. Plus, screw Roger.

NFL players are private citizens and I don't really care about the vast majority of what they do in their off time - but there should be minimum standards of character. They can be pretty low but however low you set them - Ray Rice is below them. Its seriously fricked up that a league that suspends and fines players for smoking dope in their off time allows people like Ray Rice to play at all. There is a message being sent to young men with this - and its that beating your girlfriend is kinda on the level of offense of getting caught smoking dope.

They frickin suck this year anyway and the best they can hope for with or without Rice is to lose to the top seeded wildcard at home. Woo hoo.

Why interest in Rice but none in Ben Tate?

He was punished for it. Whether you think it was too much or too little is up for debate. But at some point the guy should be allowed to play. Especially is you have murders and rapist already playing. I kind of agree with your sentiment, but once they serve their punishment not matter what it is I'm kind of good with it.

And? That means the Saints have to stoop even lower?

I'm not arguing teams shouldn't be allowed to sign him. I agree with the ruling against the NFL. That doesn't mean they should sign him. He's of extremely low moral character and the New Orleans Saints should not sign him.

What current Saints players have either been convicted of murder or rape?

Guess the saints think he fits their offense better. He is very similar to pierre. 2 of the best screen backs in the game.

Yeah but there's been far worse instances in the NFL. Like Ray Lewis and Dontè Stallworth to name a couple. They were able to still play!

You'd be hard pressed to find me 1 professional team with all guys of high moral character. Hell I guarantee the Saints got some now. Every team has a group of guys that are a little suspect. I don't think its reasonable to expect a professional team with over 53 players to have all character guys.

I'm talking about league wide.... and does Darren Sharper not ring a bell? He has not been convicted but he's got woman coming at him that's almost Bill Cosby like.

So its your opinion the Saints should have the lowest possible standards in the league?

Why the frick not. Traditionally that has been the case for everything about the Saints but the QB position.

Remember Charles Grant? he was such a swell guy as well.

Jeremy Shockey had his issues as well.
