Should just ask for pick 18 and a 3rd rounder from the Titans for Cooks and our 5th rounder.

Send the Titans 3rd to New England for Butler. They are going to trade him away like Jones or Collins for a 3rd or 4th anyway.

Thus trading Cooks and a 5th rounder for Butler and pick 18. If we don't resign Butler then we really don't lose much.

We don't have a 5th round pick this year. We traded it away last year in the David Onyemata deal.

We still can get Butler. The Pats are not keeping him.

Also I don't really look at the trade as getting Butler. He is basically like us signing a high price free agent.

"maybe" you can get him next year as a FA and get into a bidding war with every other team.

they tendered him an offer so he is theirs at least for this year and next year they can franchise him if they want to so now you might not even get him next year.

right now he has an incentive to avoid all of that and get a contract extension with a "good" team like us (at least we aren't the browns) so it is an attractive option for him to make a deal with us and not try to rape us in a contract we can always say no to and back out of the deal.

Make the trade with NE and let's move forward. This chapter seems to have stalled.

Tough to say no to an offer that hasn't been made

Trading him is nowhere near a certainty. Been blown out of proportion on that front.

Same with us trading Cooks. It could happen but it has to be the right deal or no deal at all.

Cooks is a lot more out there tho with the media drama and Payton commenting on it

A ton of this Butler stuff is conjecture by media sources. There was a couple reports that Butler was unhappy with him getting paid peanuts, but nothing on the level of "I want out of here", and a lot of the beat writers are backtracking a lot on that stuff. All it took was one report that the pats offered #32 and the saints said no, and then someone said that the pats were Considering packaging Butler for cooks, and this board took it to the extreme. Apparently cooks is a future hall of fame QB given what most of the people on the board want in return for him.

What is he worth or what would I give up for him?

Market seems to say he's worth a first round pick.

This board seems to think he's worth 2 first rounders and Butler

Me personally I'd stop at a 2nd round price.

Media drama? He made one fricking post that wasn't anywhere near as bad as people made it out to be.

Then Payton was asked about a trade and he said the same thing he ALWAYS says about ANY player when asked about trading them.

He likes player x and their skill set and they plan to have him here but they are always open to listening to offers.

And people took that so fricking far out of proportion.

What makes you think this? They've already turned down the 18th overall pick.

Like 2 people equals the whole board

Hell most of the board would happy with the Titans #18 straight up
