Now that the NFL draft has passed, the New Orleans Saints are continuing to make over their scouting department. A league source confirmed that at least two college area scouts have been let go.

What does that say about the draft? Should I take it to mean that they let them go because the draft scouting was poor?

It's mire like they planned to replace them but couldn't until after the draft.

No because we had an awesome draft. On paper it has a very good possibly of being our best draft under Payton.

Sounds like they're trimming the fat. If the lead scout(which I assume is Jeff Ireland) doesn't trust their scouting or if they don't bring a specific talent or gift...then they are expendable. This is good news imo.

I like this comment about Ireland...he's wise. It helps to have an old patient man around sometimes.
Loomis then praised Ireland for his efforts both before and during the draft, saying he was a "voice of reason" when the more aggressive Loomis and coach Sean Payton may have considered moving up in the draft for players they coveted.

Agreed. Ireland seems to be a nice pickup so far.

The glass, is it usually not half full for you?
Jeff Ireland is new, expect changes. It's the nature of the the beast. Don't read too much into it...

New York Jets did similiar. ...except I believe they removed the entire scouting staff... they also had a top level draft...

Could be the FO passed on too many of their suggestions.
Could be the scouts were listening to much to agents.
Could be they were about to get a job on WWL
