Nhamdi
Cox
Lewis

Any of these and somehow bringing in a guy like Ed Reed would make me very excited in the pants. Would be great to sign Nhamdi.

You left out Lewis who said he is already on Airline Hwy.

But that's exactly my point. Besides Kruger, all we have been linked to are 3 corners so it leads me to think one of them could likely happen.

One thing that hasn't been addressed is how much more money a player can save on taxes by signing with the Saints over Frisco. Surely, the Saints front office should be using this pitch in their favor.

No shite, this is the kind of player Vilma and Smith should restructure for.

Looks like the Denver Broncos can be pulled from the Nnamdi Asomugha hat now. They just signed Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie to a 1 year deal and I don't foresee them signing anymore cornerbacks for now.

I could be wrong.

We'll see...

My guess is it's either San Francisco, to be back in the Bay Area, or New Orleans, to play for the guy whose scheme allowed him to be the best corner in the game for years.

Wow why only 1 year? He's young.

With the short, relatively cheap deals that a lot of players (some high profile like Avril) are signing, I think Asomugha could come cheaper than some may expect.

ok so i have been thinking could

Asomugha=Lofton
Lewis=Hawthrone
Cox=Chamberlain

Somehow the Saints pulled it off last year, and maybe they do it again. If this would happen do we try to trade Greer?

Greer
Robinson
White
Asomugha
Lewis
Cox

Not quite sure, I was wondering the same. I expect us to try to bring him back if he has a good season. It kind of reminds me of the Tracy Porter signing, to be honest.

DRC was terrible last season, almost certainly prefers to take a 1 year deal, improve his play, and get a good long term deal vs. taking a lower long term deal now.

Something between $5-7 million is what I expect

They have more capspace than us and are (IMO) a better team. Not looking good.

I was positive we couldn't afford him originally.

Then Vilma and Smith restructured and opened up a small window.

And then the PFT tweet got my hopes up and made me think we have a real shot at him.

And now those douche bag 49ers are probably going to pay this motherfricker $8-9 million.

My hope is that they are a little gun shy from the Nate Clements deal.

I hate the 49ers for obvious Saints related reasons (80's and 90's). The only team I hate more is the Falcons. Namdi Asomugha can go anywhere besides those 2 teams and I won't be angry.

Me too but the organization in SF is different now and you know they are desperate to make some big moves after losing the Super Bowl.

I don't expect them to offer Nnamdi a huge long term contract like they did with Clements, so they may be okay with a sizable short term deal.

If by some miracle the Saints get this dude, most of the credit should go to Vilma/Smith restructuring and the Rob Ryan hire IMO.
