Sources: Saints have offered Jimmy Graham new contract
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
The Saints have offered a contract extension to tight end Jimmy Graham, multiple league sources told ProFootballTalk.com. However, Graham's representatives have yet to respond.

Graham is in the final year of his rookie contract. He's off to a great start in 2013, totaling 23 catches for 358 yards and four touchdowns in three games.

Numbers?

Would be surprised if he takes the first offer thrown his way.

Trade deadline is coming up, and we have some spare change. We likely won't be making any more big moves in that department until next off-season. This is a good move, and shows Graham intent by the organization to resign him, regardless if he takes it or not.

You just can't say enough good about this kid, especially considering where he came from. He's humble, respectful, passionate, and always gives 110%. If anyone deserves this, it's him.

Jimmy Graham, proving that gingers do indeed have souls.

He won't, but at least we are offering something and trying to get this done

Jimmy's staying put. He's only gonna catch passes from Drew, then retire.

Last year, Gronk took a $54 mil 6-year deal with $18 mil guaranteed. So it should be in that range, I would assume.

I wonder if Graham will catch flack for being greedy & selfish like many here gave Brees.

Graham deserves to get paid and paid big. He is by far the best player on that offense, next to Brees. Although I think this will lead to a franchise tag and a big contract after next year.

I agree.

And Brees deserved his big payday as well. But many here crawled out the cracks and said he was selfish because we wouldn't be able to field enough talent around him to win.

I'm just curious if the same arm-chair GM's will be consistent and bitch about Jimmy taking a $$$$$ market value contract.

Off season team B releases player A.
Posters want him.
Team can't afford him.
Quickly realized that Brees and Jimmy are taking __% of team salary and should give some back to help team win.
Or something like that.

yep. we are going to end up looking a lot like the Pats as far as money distribution pretty soon

going to really need to nail in the draft going forward, we will have a lot of cap space tied up in QB/TE
