No. Just...no.

This is why you can't treat PFF as gospel. It's just another tool to add to an overall assessment.

Stud: Second-year starter Jack Mewhort (+2.4) has played well, whether at guard or tackle. That’s a valuable trait to have.
Mewhort was selected immediately after Stanley Jean Baptiste in round 2 last year.

This. At one point a few years ago, Robert Meachem was by far our highest rated WR on PFF and he had caught like 4 passes

you may laugh all you want..

and it seems like the saints line is awful.. they are.. however..

other analysts have pointed out and asked, "what happened to blocking, protection in the nfl?"

teams are just not pass protecting at all right now.. it's bad all around.

look at the entire picture, before assuming it's just your team struggling..

so often fans only see their own team's weaknesses.. and act as if it isn't taking place elsewhere..

the more the 2014 draft gets brought up, the more i die inside because what could have been in the first 3 picks.

1st: Kelvin Benjamin, WR; Bradley Roby, CB; Xavier Su'a-Filo, G
2nd: Jack Mewhort, OT/OG; Kony Ealy, DE; Allen Robinson, WR; Jarvis Landry, WR; Marcus Martin, C
3rd: John Brown, WR; Trai Turner, OG; Dri Archer, RB/WR; Richard Rodgers, TE; Bryan Stork, C

there's a lot of value in what they do...

It beats "Strief got beat and gave up a sack in the first quarter = he's done...Sack Strief".

it's not perfect, but watching/grading every play from a player beats 99.9% of everyone else's knee jerk reactions or what they gather from the few noticeable plays per game...good or bad.

I don't believe any witch craft that gave streif a positive rating last week.

This is why the scouting department was gutted. One of the overall deepest drafts in recent memory and Cooks is all left to show for it.

It's weird because people will downplay PFF for saying Streif isn't playing that bad now, but will also use PFF as a reference to say he's played well in the past.

Oh, I see.

It's a cumulative score.
The thing is, Armstead is doing so ridiculously well, it's actually bringing up the average a ton.
Plus Unger is playing decently.

That being said, I disagree with us being 8th.
Or even top 16.

Literally every single PFF thread starts with "take these with a grain of salt."

It's not their fault if you're so desperate to believe your own eyeball test that you don't like metrics.

or they are working the short passing game. One way to try and deal with some of the teams that have good rushers... just do quick three step drops or run a lot screens?

I mean its all over the place in the NFL right now.

One thing about those short passes, they might help shorten the game for the young defense that we have and not expose them as much. Those short passes aren't much different than a running play.

the other part of it is probably personnel at WR.

the Eagles have a tough line... Bennie Logan y'all know him. Fletcher Cox... we'll probably have trouble running the ball this week so maybe we'll be in for another dink-and-dunk fest on offense?

just about all the lines ranked behind new orleans are absolutely atrocious this season.

has anyone seen the colts, or seahawks play this season??

the saints are 6th in the entire NFL in offensive yards.. and they don't really have many (if any) playmakers at the skill position and even brees (who has played hurt) missed a game.. luke filled in well and was highly well protected against a very good carolina defense..

rams, lions, niners are absolutely horrific on offense all around.. especially up front..

the bears are so bad they get their qbs absolutely abused every season..

it's really not that far fetched.. regardless what saints fans may feel..

pitt, tenn, minnesota, san fran, cleveland, seattle, kansas city.. etc.. have all given up more sacks.. miami, denver, buffalo all tied with the saints..

i do agree that just from a feel.. it doesn't seem like the saints are 8th best on the o-line.. but i could definitely see more mid range. maybe #10 (at best) to maybe 15ish..

I was pleasantly surprised when our defense was able to stand their ground against a solid Dallas O-line.

I thought that would be our downfall in that matchup.

Thank Christ it wasn't.
