As storylines develop for Thursday, one to keep in mind: The #Saints had talks about moving up to No. 1 for a QB. Will they do it for Lynch?

Moving up to No. 1 proved too costly for the #Saints. If they feel strongly about Paxton Lynch, they are a team to watch late in the Top 10.

Source: #Saints had no talks about moving to No. 1. If anything more likely to move down. But QB interest is genuine

I choose to believe it's all part of the smokescreen.

I wouldn't go that far, but he surely seems to just run with whatever his "sources" tell him.

Last year many were scoffing at Saints drafting a QB (looking at you Lether Url). I also will pat myself on the back yet again in that I called it before the draft started that we would draft Grayson in the 3rd (looking at me Midget Death Superior).

I don't think this is bullshite myself. Paeyton understands how critical the position is, and he will exhaust all resources to ensure that life after Brees is as close to life with Brees as it can be. That means not putting all faith in a 3rd round QB if there's a better prospect to be had.

I don't know if we will draft Lynch at 12, but I do think if there's interest then they may very well trade down to take him at a more palatable slot.

I could also see this being a smoke screen. I think they legitimately wanted one of the 2 top guys (I doubt both... if trading to 1 then they had a particular target). They could be using this info to fake interest in Lynch as well.

Rap has lost about any credibility he ever had with me. Truly, whatever sticks...

No way that's true. Has to be more posturing put out there after people questioned when we cleared space from Brees in the snap of a finger. We have to get that aura back out to get someone to trade in front of or with us for a QB.

I don't know...Sean is pretty egotistical. He could be looking at McCown's success last year and thinking he may be better suited with a cheaper QB and better supporting cast than 37 year old Brees at $20+ million.

That's an excellent point. I do think that's the true reason behind all the Lynch talk. Last year it was "Paeyton loves Petty."

Yep, It's the season of Mis-Information.

Trust if someone is writing about it, it's NOT part of the Saints draft plans.

LOL

Not going to lie I would've probably broke the closest thing to me if we traded away what St. Louis did for that pick. What do you think they would have gotten for Brees(assuming they would've traded him for something)?

I will say this. I do not want to move on past Drew. If we're not movnig on past drew, i think grooming a qb sitting 3 years for this type of value is too long, not overly ideal. BUT. If there's any desire for the Saints wanting to move on after this year from Drew, Paxton Lynch is about as ideal of a guy as there is. He's mobile, tall, nice frame, big hands, excellent arm strength, extends plays, needs a year to groom, probably has a higher ceiling than Goff or Wentz. I love Lynch as a plan on moving on from Drew. Really doesn't affect Grayson too much if we're still grooming grayson for a backup position although i'm not sure how we'd carry 4 qb's this year.
