Hey all,

We will be coming to our first Saints game at the Superdome. Will be there for the Thursday night game versus the Falcons.

We will be staying at Le Pavillion near the dome.

My questions have to do with pre-game activities. What are our options?

Will have my truck so could drive there and tailgate with my travel grill, beers, etc. if so, where is the tailgating spots? Do I need a parking pass?

Or should we walk down and just hang out for the pre-game activity?

I assume there's some places to get some adult beverages and other activities going on outside the dome? But what places and what activities?

What is the best option and what time should we head down there?

Any advice/info you can provide will be much appreciated.

Haha...so I assume you mean the gay club on bourbon?

Thanks for the tip but I don't play for that team.

Any other straighter suggestions...let me know.

Google does wonders, doesn't it? Just go hang out in Champions Square.

Go to the French Quarter and drink all day and see stuff, then closer to the game walk over to Champions square. All of downtown will be gearing up for the game. The Superdome's location doesn't lend itself to a particularly strong traditional tailgating scene but there are a few parking lots near the dome where people set up.

Honestly, if you are new to the whole experience I would walk around. Just leave the truck at the pavilion and enjoy the sights, bars etc. ChampionSquare isn't bad, awfully crowded and that's a closer to game time thing anyway.

Pretty much this. Being that its a night game, and assuming you have all day, I would start in the quarter and just hang out all day. Slowly make your way to the stadium and drink and eat on the way. You can stop at walk ons on poydras, then allegro bistro's block party, and finally champions square.

If you really want to park your truck then your best bet would be to get a spot in one of the lots off loyola. I am not sure how it works on a weekday though parking wise. My buddy has a couple of passes to the actual dome lot and parks on the upper level so its a sweet spot. You are welcomed to come hang out right before entering the dome if you wish.

Thanks for the info everybody. Sounds like it's the quarter all day and then bar hopping our way over to the dome as game time arrives.

Sounds good to me...we'll do the traditional tailgating on Saturday in BR for the Florida game.

I think that's your best bet.....there is a lot of good and traditional/elaborate tailgating done for saints games but, it's VERY spread out and "clannish", IF you don't have an invite to a big tailgate you are better off bar hopping your way from the Qtr.over to Champions Square an hour or 2 before the game ! Even the big "BUD-FEST"on Loyola/Poydras is either dead or moving to a MUCH smaller location this year !
