This is unexpected. There were no claims for former Saints CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste

As for the #Saints, NO claimed Obum Gwachum & Michael Mauti

So SJB can hit the practice squad if we want to still try and develop him.

Obum Gwacham is a great name. From rotoworld:
quote:

Seahawks selected Oregon State DE Obum Gwacham with the No. 209 overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft.
Gwacham (6'5/246) played receiver, slotback and special teams in his first three college seasons before converting to defensive end as a senior, posting four sacks. Gwacham also competed for Oregon State's track team in the triple and high jumps. He ran 4.72 with a 36-inch vertical and 10-foot-1 broad jump at the Combine. Gwacham has a great head on his shoulders and intriguing tools, but will be a 24-year-old rookie and may max out as a special teamer who only dabbles as a passing-down specialist. He's a poor run defender and lacks pass-rush moves. May 2 - 4:53 PM

So that's 2 players that "made" the team that will have to go.

So that's a DE and LB. Wonder if that means Ellerbe could be the one going on IR.

Wouldn't be shocked if we cut two of our DL as we have nine and Gwacham makes ten. Should be at eight.

Surprised we still have only two TEs.

Ouch. I remember pre-draft last year I hated the idea of taking SJB, but I didn't think it would turn out this bad.

He was supposed to be a UDFA. That's why the second round pick was a fricking head scratcher.

Unexpected? Why because the idiot reporters only see second round and think he's worth claiming?

News flash: teams actually watch tape unlike you idiot reporters.

? Stanley Jean-Baptiste, CB, Nebraska - Round 2

This Saints regime hasn't had a great track record of drafting cornerbacks. The organizatio has done well with free agent signings at the position, but draft picks like Patrick Robinson and Malcolm Jenkins ended up being disappointments. Robinson looks like a bust. Considering that Jean-Baptiste is a raw cornerback, the Saints' track record doesn't invoke a lot of confidence for developing Jean-Baptiste into a good starter.

My bad. He had a low 4th round grade. Either way, he was a fricking reach.

Didn't look at Gwacham's size at first. That would make him more of a rush OLB along with Kikaha, Edebali, and Tull. So we didn't really claim any actual DL.

Still nine is too many on the DL and I have to think at least one cut will come from there (and go on the PS).

Oh good god their line is THAT bad?

He was the reason we gave up like four or five sacks in our we meeting with them.

Will they try to convert Gwacham to a TE?

Someone posted in another thread that the Lions claimed SJB but I couldn't find anything on it, did anyone read that anywhere else to confirm? It would be nice if we could stash him on the PS to keep progressing him

It's over.

You can pick the PS you sign with. He's gonna pick another team--not one that never activated him and already gave up on him. That's how he would look at it.

Plus, it's not like we have a stellar track record at developing corner backs.
