The Saints and G Senio Kelemete agreed to a two-year contract, per source. Kelemete, 25, was scheduled to be a restricted free agent. Rather than tender him, the Saints worked out a two-year deal. Terms have not been disclosed. Kelemete, who was a backup and spot starter last year, should have a chance to compete for one of the Saints' starting guard jobs after they let go of veteran Jahri Evans last month.

He is good depth. Did well when he played last year

Is he better than lelito??

You would think he would accept 2yrs/3 mil...but whatever. He's a legit backup.

Good back up money? Yall nuts. He was the best guard we had last season, and will be starting this season no doubt.

Strief is going to sign for a good deal as well and be a great back up tackle. Senio and Zach for cheap would be very solid for the o-line I think.

Base salary is 1.3 mil this year
Could go up to 1.9 with incentives
Good insurance on the line

Good deal. I'm ok with that.

That's debateable. He, Jahri, & Lelito were all about the same. They each had a few good games and a few horrible games.
I'll take Kelemete & Lelito for cheap. Jahri just made way too much money.
Kelemete could start, but he'll have to beat out Lelito and probably 2 more new guys that we add.

That's low end starter money. They are expecting him to compete for the starting job in either spot. At times he looked much better than Lelito so no guarantee Lelito keeps one of the spots.
And if he doesn't start he is first man off the bench at all three interior positions.
So this deal is good for both parties. We get a potential starter for not much money and he gets a short contract in case he does well.

Yep. He'll compete for LG.
Payton was impressed with how he did at tackle as well. So if he wins the job or not, his versatility is valued.
I dunno if Lelito will be back if we do indeed plan on bringing in two more guards.

He held up well at tackle but was pretty bad at guard. Not a bad contract for a solid backup tackle.

Good deal. Ideally, I'd like to see us sign a G in Free Agency, and draft one. If that were to happen, Kelemete can hold down a starting spot until the rookie is ready, then provide depth after that. Even if he is the starter for the full season, I am ok with that.

I think the ideal scenario here is:
-Resign Kelemete .. Check
-Resign Lelito to a similar deal
-Sign one G in FA
-Draft 1-2 OL

As long as he stays a backup.
