Explain these injury designations for Kikaha/Young

Why are we keeping Coleman?? Goddamn this organization pisses me off sometimes.

Kikaha never practiced in training camp so he was eligible for the Physically Unable to Perform list, which means they have up to 6 weeks to let him start practicing and activate him (by game 8 I believe), or put him on IR.
NFI means non football injury. Sucks for the player (less pay iirc) but lets the team keep him around. Not too sure about the rules for this one though.

We're keeping 5 WRs and he's 4th or 5th. Only one other receiver stepped up at all (Tommy Lee Lewis).
And there are 22 more cuts coming so you never know.

I think it is different than this. Player cannot practice until at the earliest week 6. At that point, you have 5 weeks to release them to practice. If you do, from the point they are brought to practice you have 3 weeks to activate them or IR them.
So basically, You can wait until week 11 to start practicing and week 14 to play him. I believe they changed the rules up a bit recently.

Maybe so. It's been a couple of years since I checked.

Yup they changed and I had misremembered something.
The practice window used to be weeks 6-8 and 3 weeks from the first practice to decide if they get activated or remain on PUP for the rest of the year (basically being IR).
They've extended it to weeks 6-11 with the rest staying the same.
Also the NFI works exactly like PUP and the player doesn't lose money like I thought.
