With injuries starting to add up and Will Smith being himself, what rookie linebackers do you think have a legitimate shot of making the 53? I know Martin has stood out and people are high on Rufus. Do Thomas and Reddick have a shot?

Those guys got a ton of attention after signing here, but outside of Martin i haven't heard a thing about any of them since camp started.

I saw Thomas hurry the passer a few times on the last defensive possession ultimately causing a turnover on downs but that's all I've seen or heard

I read something a week or two ago about them liking Rufus' potential. And I've seen a few things about Eric Martin doing well, but I haven't heard much.

I don't know if they will give a roster spot for one of these guys if Butler plans on coming back by week 6 or so.

My guess is that Rufus makes the roster and Martin and Thomas/Reddick end up on the PS. That's just a guess though.

It looks like Martin if he gets healthy and possibly Rufus.
Have we signed another W.R. yet?

Do you really think he can be back by week 6 with that injury? I thought it was season ending/maybe for the playoffs......

Bobby's ranting right now about how our linebackers in goal line defense today were the worst he's ever seen.

offense scored 8 of 12 times

Larry Holder today- Despite the defense's struggles through much of the full-contact goal-line drills, undrafted linebacker Eric Martin made the most impressive play of anyone on either side of the ball. Martin snuffed out an outside running play inside the 5-yard line and stuffed Travaris Cadet along the edge, halting him short of the end zone. Martin is fighting for a roster spot and that'll certainly help his cause.

Forgetting about Martez Wilson? He should be back in time for regular season and has the best chance to succeed at OLB out of anyone on our roster.

They had a nice article on Rufus.. Said the coaches like him a lot and want to utilize him in more ways than just rushing the passer.

I don't know who I was thinking of. (Probably Tez.) Butler is done for the year.

It's looking more and more like Will Smith, Eric Martin, Martez Wilson, Junior Gallette and Rufus Johnson will be our OLBs this year.

What about the undrafted RFA from Stanford that was considered a steal? Can't recall his name.

He looked good rushing the passer last Friday.

Yeah, as I noted earlier, I noticed that as well on back to back plays. I watched the replay and he did have a little speed getting around the tackle, but it was probably against some dude who is already cut.

I did see Rob Ryan and multiple players giving him some probs after the turnover on downs.
