Rob Ryan-SCAPEGOAT

Most people seem thrilled that Rob Ryan was fired. Just like most people were thrilled when Greg Williams was fired. But Williams current team ( St Louis) has the number 7 scoring defense this year. Most people were happy when Gary Gibbs was fired, but his team (KC) finished 2014 with the second best scoring defense.
3 Def Cordinators fired in 9 years ( I'm not counting Spagnola and the suspension year), and the first 2 fired are doing pretty well. I wonder if it might be the players we have on defense. Last year we gave Ryan a defense with terrible personnel. We had 1 CB who was a legitamite NFL starter. Until we resigned Humbert, there were no LBs left from the 2014 team (I think) this year. We paid $54 million on a safety who barely played (Byrd) and wasted a second round pick on a player so bad (Stanley John Baptiste) that I don't think he's even in the league anymore. This year we gave him Brandon Browner, another great defensive player. And we have had 3 LBs injured the past 2 weeks. What a joke.

Williams was a GREAT DC IMO
Hated to see him go

Dude... we all justified hiring him by saying jerry jones was making him the scapegoat in Dallas.
Chances are, he just sucks

He may very well suck. But a lot of people thought the other guys sucked, and they're doing pretty well. My point is how can you tell with the def players we have.

The cover changes, but the book stays the same. Long as we have the same damn AC's it wont change.

How can you tell the players are bad with the coaches they have? I mean Byrd used to be really good. Browner contributed for two straight Super bowl teams.

Was a safety (Byrd) worthn$54 million when your CBs can't cover people. As for Browner, all those replays of him holding people when he is called for it pretty much show his skills have eroded to, the point where he has to hold. It was interesting to hear Hokies Gajan say that exact same thing about Browner.,,

The laugh just reinforces my point. He's doing pretty well in St. Louis but saying he was good on this board is laughed at.

I don't think Browner was ever really that good. He won in places where his deficiencies were covered by the team around him.
Anyway, I think that I blame everybody. The players. The coaches. Everybody. I'm just about all out of optimism, and I can't even see any silver lining any more until they actually give me something to work with. I'm expecting more of the same to close out this year and probably into next year. At least I can't be disappointed any more. I can only be delightfully surprised.

Hawthorne
And the Lber corps this year is a lot better when they've been 100% so it's a good thing they brought new blood in.

Anthony,Kikaha-who I believe is out of position- and Ellerbe are beasts, when healthy.
I wouldn't mind seeing Kikaha- Ellerbe- Anthony and another rush backer in a 3-4 but as a 4-3 OLB I hate seeing Kikaha in coverage when his strength is killing qbs

Until Sean gets rid of Vitt and McMahon, it will just be lipstick on a pig.

What you guys think about Gwacham in limited action last week? 1 1/2 sacks then they started dbl teaming him
And imo I believe Cam is best suited for a 3 tech, this is where I see him get most of his sacks when hes one on one with the guard.

Yeah. The front office is the one's who decided having one starter level D-lineman was a good decision.

Scapegoat Rob didn't have much of a chance to field a good defense after these recent injuries.

Truth. Ellerbe is a baller, when hes in the game its an entirely different defense.

And I thought the defense was playing better until the injuries occurred. The injury to Ellerbee had the worst effect. I think he's a huge factor when he's out there.

So did I. That three game win streak was impressive. That was before Ellerbee and Kikaha got hurt. Rob Ryan can produce a good defense when he has some players, even if they are rookies.
I feel bad about this firing. R Ryan's just a scapegoat.
