Reasons to be negative and optimistic

So listening to the radio yesterday I hear a guy discussing some reasons to be worried.
Since the Sean Payton era began, the Saints are 12-4 in game decided by 3 points or less IN PLAYOFF YEARS. In non playoff years, the Saints are 1-7 in games decided by three or less.
2006 2-1
2007 0-1
2008 0-4
2009 2-1
2010 4-1
2011 2-0
2012 1-2
2013 2-1
Reason to be optimistic is of course, our terrible division. Only once in those non playoff years did a team win the division with less than 12 wins. Tampa Bay won in 2007 with a 9-7 record.
Assuming 8 wins is a magic number, I think we have a much better chance of that even with some really tough games coming up. Carolina would have to go 5-1 to get to 8 and Atlanta would have to go 5-2.
I'd love it if we got Seattle or San Fran for a home playoff game.

i mean this is kind of a bullshite thing to be worried about. i would rather be concerned about something more concrete happening during games like Paytons poor play calling or Drews interceptions than digging deep into stats based on records.
no team ever went to the super bowl after losing their last 3 games, except we did.

basically if we beat Atlanta we win the South.
It's interesting with Carson Palmer out - Seattle will likely win the West now and Ari might wind up as a wild card.
Saints -3 vs Arizona in Wild Card round
Saints +9.5 at Seattle in Divisional round

agreed - we should be 8-1

Didn't they go 3-1 or something with Drew Stanton?
