I think this is more like IF we give him a camp invite, where he can learn how to be a pro from Payton and Brees, maybe get some action in Preseason to showcase him as a backup for another team, and maybe make our practice squad.

A camp tryout for Johnny Manziel doesn't ruin an offseason. It is not a big deal. He would get a minimum deal with no guaranteed money one would imagine.
Also, the only way I do this is if I know for sure we are NOT getting picked for Hard Knocks. If we get picked for that we can't have Johnny even as a camp tryout.
