He was a projected top 5 pick for a long time. It's crazy to see his stock drop so much.

Werner puzzles me especially if Mingo and Moore on board

would definitely want Werner over Moore.

he reminds me of Ryan Kerrigan. After Kerrigan's name was brought up as a possibility for the Saints a few years ago, I read up on him and watched whatever highligths I could find on youtube and shite.

both guys played with a hand in the dirt in college as a 4-3 end. Kerrigan had little trouble adjusting to a 3-4 when picked by the Redskins.

both are about the same size.

Kerrigan 6'4'' 267
Werner 6'3'' 266

Kerrigan was a tad faster in his 40 time but whatever.

when reading up on Werner, you hear about his outstanding awareness and work ethic.

when you read up on Moore, there is the talk of his quickness but according to PFW's take, he has off the field baggage. They even used the words "bust potential" in his little profile. Don't know if Pro Football Weekly has it posted on the internet some where but that is what they have on him in their draft guide at the bookstore.

I compiled them, so here's our big board-
at the bottom Moore had 4 votes, Ogletree & Werner 7. After that most had 10 or 11, Jordan on 12 ballots

Average Rank
Joeckel 2.5
Jarvis Jones 3.7
Fisher 4.1
Dion Jordan 4.8
Shariff Floyd 5.6
Lotulelei 6.0
Ansah 6.7
Lane Johnson 6.9
Milliner 8.1
Mingo 8.4
Ogletree 10.85
Vacarro 10.9
Rhodes 12.3
Damontre Moore 12.5
Werner 13.9

3 votes for Jesse Williams
2 votes for Sheldon Richardson, Trufant, & Elam
1 vote for Minter, Carradine, Austin, Keenan Allen, & Datone Jones

So what's the take on our consensus?

Who your up-n-comer or player going down?

I'm liking Ogletree more & more. The more I look the more I believe one of Jordan, Ansah, Mingo, or Jones will be there for the taking,

I'd lean more heavily toward Mingo or Jones being there. Jordan and Ansah's stock have risen a lot.

FWIW, it may be hard to trade it. Talk is that more than one in the top 10 may be looking to trade back. With the 9ers signing Nnamdi, them wanting to get to 15 to snag Rhodes is less likely. Minny has two first rounders, but talk is they will keep both.

Good point.

What the Saints want Tavon Austin?

If Miami can't get a LT Austin could go there. Most think Davone Bess will be gone. Teaming him with Mike Wallace would leave no excuse for Tannehill to not have the weapons needed to suceed.

Austin or a QB might be two of the most desired players that other teams might want to trade up to #15 to get. He would be a hard pass for STL at #16.

So we have a big board with our Top 15 wanted in order. How bout a stab at ranking the same players in the order you think they will be taken. I would demarcate them into 4 zones. Like-

-No way available at #15, less than 5% chance
-highly unlikely but possible, 5-25% chance
-In the mix, 25+% chance
-definitely available, 90%+ chance

My try-
Not even thinking about
Joeckel
Fisher
Jordan
Floyd
Johnson

slight chance but not expecting
Lotulelei
Ansah
Milliner

could happen
Jones
Ansah
Mingo
Rhodes

should definitely be there
Ogletree
Vacarro
Moore
Werner

What say ye?

significant PFT news today-

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones has not been asked to submit to another examination.

Coupled with the fact that he has received full clearance to participate in football activities despite his previous diagnosis at USC of spinal stenosis, this is very good news for Jones.

Of course, some would say there’s no need for a re-check because Jones doesn’t have a condition that would get better or worse via the passage of time. Still, the growing belief is that, regardless of USC’s ultimate reluctance to keep him on the team, Jones has demonstrated via two years of high-level play at an SEC school that it’s not an issue. More and more teams, we’re told, have made it clear that they have no concerns about the situation.

That doesn’t mean that some teams will be extra cautious, given the potential consequences of a spinal cord injury. But the bulk of the teams seem to be untroubled by the situation.

--------------------
I think the poor workout numbers are now a larger negative than the spinal stenosis. I do think he is off the board for any 4-3 team in the first half of the 1st Rd. So it becomes a matter if the value and players can squeeze one of Jordan, Ansah, Mingo, or Jones down to #15. I'm pulling hard for Jones to slip like Suggs in '03. He had the same exact scenario. In any case I thinking it's over 50% that one of them will be around at #15.

Good to here that no one is worried about his injury but that leaves me to believe he wont be there at 15, but if he is the saints better run to the podium to pick him.

that's where it gets interesting to me. Look at the list above...

I have 8 names virtually Xed off as no way

I add Geno Smith taken

I add Cooper or Warmack, possibly both, but say one

Of those I labeled 'could happen' say 3 go.

That's 13 spots. A WR or two, another QB, or just some surprise reach like there usually is and one of the four 3-4OLBs has to be available. I put Mingo as most likely but it could truly be a tossup that just depends on who takes who.

Curious also... the Jets at #9 and Saints at #15 both could use that. Wonder if Rob & Rex have had any direct convo about the guys?
