yea you're probaly right...but what we have, isn't going to get any better..I don't think any amount of coaching is gonna help these guys

Honestly, give me one impact full pass rusher, ship off Sed Ellis and Shanle, let the LBers we have get healthy, and is happy with that.

After the glimmer of hope I saw last weekend, I'm not giving up on everyone on the defense. This "wasted year" might turn out for the best to give Spags the time he needs to get his system installed

We have been having the same holes for years and they have done nothing about it.

What makes you think they will all of a sudden do something about those glaring holes?

I'd like to see 7 though I think it's going to be more like 3.

depends how you count the LB situation, minimum of 4. Ellis, Smith, Shanle, Herring.

a lot probably depends on our draft position. If it's not good enough to draft a bunch of obvious beasts, what are the chances we are going to be able to afford to go out and buy a bunch of talented veterans?

From what I can tell maybe a B grade type.
Jimmy Grambo and left tackle loom large.

It would be a cheaper option to go stud OLB in free agency, and hit on an impact DE in the draft. But with our defensive talent evaluation in the draft the chances of the player coming in and having a big impact rushing the passer are not very high.

So it is more expensive but probably the more expensive option to try to get the stud DE in free agency and hit on the OLB in the draft.

We're not signing a stud DE. They don't exactly hit the market regularly.

That and they are bank breakers. We would probably be forced into settling for a B/2nd tier DE who would still demand too much money. We will most likely have to hope we get a DE in the draft who actually proves to be a difference maker.
