I missed the memo.

What's the status of Swann?

Rumor is they are thinking of moving Roman Harper to the secondary.

but Payton is such a POS with his flat-out lies to the media in regards to injury.

So he's a football coach

According to him, like two days ago, PJ was "fine"

Link to where he said PJ was "fine"?

He had a concussion that made him lose consciousness. He didn't travel back with the team.

I think the most likely thing that happened is that they don't what to put him at the same risk Swann is in

They trotted Swann out there over and over enough times for him to get 3 concussions and now Williams is going on IR after 1 concussion in Week 1?

Payton and Loomis started up the tank.

So we came into this season with
Breaux, Keenan, PJ, and Swann
now we have none of these guys..

Not that he was expected to play a huge role, although he would be now, but you can also list Kyle Wilson there as well.

Probably the smart move.

I can't believe this guy will have played two games in two seasons with us.

If the situation is this serious, then his career is clearly in doubt.

This hurts a lot. Basically, it means that even when Breaux comes back, the team is going to be short on talent in the secondary.

This season is lost, IMO.

So...... we finally hit on a CB in the draft (IMO) and he's going to spend his first two seasons on IR

This isn't Belichick listing a guy as "doubtful" and then is in for 90 percent of the plays, or vice versa. Guys walk of the field under their own power with "cramps," and 48 hours later they're on IR. Payton's not lying to gain a competitive advantage here. He's just fricking with the press just to frick with them.

Nah, this isn't like Ellerbe getting hurt walking to the facility.

Pretty obvious Williams head injury was much worse than any of Swann's.

This was my first thought to why they put him on IR. Maybe they realized how they handled a young solid player like Swann was a bad move. Now they will preserve the player and protect him which I like. Isn't a player more likely to be concussed after a recent concussion?

I was about to say the same thing. They learned their lesson. Swann was looking great until the concussion train.

There are different degrees of concussions. Vacarro had 2 his rookie year. Swann's appeared to be more of the mild kind compared to PJ who obviously had a very severe concussion. More than likely, even if Swann had never got hurt last year, they would have put PJ on IR with this one.

Probably the right decision overall.

If all these guys can get healthy and we can move forward with: Breaux, Williams, Swann, Harris, Crawley. Maybe resign Wilson. That would be a really good group headed into 2017.

Of course there are degrees of concussions. And if this one was really bad, then the head coach should've kept his mouth shut and not said the kid was fine and day to day just because he likes to frick with the media.

Possibly he was letting people know he was fine, as in, he doesn't have a fricking broke neck and will eventually fully recover

I mean, you can be fine and be on IR. A torn bicep is one thing and you are still on IR, a broke neck is another. Many fans and journalists were genuinely worried about PJ. I imagine Payton was just saying he is fine, as in long term health.
