Saints pick 10th in the round. Say several of the remaining defensive players are gone by pick 42.

Williams, Willis, Cunningham etc.

Would you be satisfied with Kamara? A lot of times this comes down to who is there and what is the value.

Outside of McCaffrey I don't know that anyone catches the ball out of the backfield like Kamara and you can put him in the slot also.

Short answer: No.

It's mathematically impossible for the Saints to not have a key defensive player at 42.

They might even trade for another high R2 pick at the expense of the 3rd round.

I wouldn't necessarily be mad, but it'd be a bad pick in my opinion. There are going to be plenty of the best defensive players currently remaining still on the board for us.

I'd don't think so, but I'm not going to meltdown like so many babies on this board.

42 really needs to be a pass-rusher. Of course anything is possible but I would expect a good one to be there at 42. Lawson from Auburn? Willis might be gone by then, hopefully not.

No HB here (and IF it was I think it'd be Mixon).

Worst case scenario is there is a run on D and we trade up to get someone.

Best case is teams keep going offense (I think it's possible for two QBs to go for instance) and secondary, leaving us plenty of LBs and DEs to pick from.

I see some mocks with Ryan Anderson from bama in the third. I remember him in the backfield during national championship... any reason he's not higher?

This is what's going to happen I feel. Willis at 42 and if Cunningham or Baker are still there then they trade back up. They did it last year and will again. Payton even said they still had first round grade guys still available

I like the Ramczyk pick, but the Saints aren't a team with the luxury of picking BPA. They need to stockpile value defensive picks and they need to do it starting at 42.

If they didn't trade up from 32 to pick a better DE in the teens, that has to mean they were biding their time for the second tier of players. I wish they could have gotten their DE, but they did need a CB too.

Yeah Payton spat out 3 guys they were looking at (Tak, Foster, and Ram) at 32, but also said AND someone else (intentionally not naming him).

They clearly have one more guy with a first round grade. Don't be surprised if we jump up from 42.

The Saints did not address the rush end in round one but the Saints still have Hau'oli Kikaha, and Alex Okafor both offer some pass rush when healthy.

Now look at the our new OL

Armstead, Peat, Unger, Warford, Ramczyk.

Not the flashy pass rush DE or Outside LB we all want and think the defense so desperately needs but we took a step in upgrading and protecting our most valuable commodity on this team Drew Brees.

If we go RB at 42, I'd rather just get Mixon.
But that said, we need D

I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't a pass rusher though.

Could be a guy like Baker, Cunningham or even Obi

Willis is the only DE I'd take over either Baker or Cunningham right now. I know we need a DE, but those 2 at #42 are too good to pass on, and we need those positions as well

Because he's not very athletic or fits the traditional strong side rush end mold. Some say that he's a product of having great talent around him. I read that his football IQ is very high though, and play with great technique/hand usage.

The team needs good football players they need to take BPA. You aren't fixing the defense over night. If kamara is the top player on the board then take him. Why take a player at 42 that May be rated in the 60's or lower for the sake of taking a certain position get good football players
