15. NEW ORLEANS SAINTS
BEST-GRADED STARTER: Cameron Jordan, Edge, 92.7

WORST-GRADED: A.J. Klein, LB, 34.8

The Saints have had talent on defense for years, but the scheme has consistently put them in a bad position. This season that all seems to have changed, and we are seeing real impact from players that previously struggled. Marshon Lattimore may be the real deal at cornerback and has already transformed the team, while Cameron Jordan continues to be the game’s most underrated all-pro caliber pass-rusher.

PFF seems to like the Saints over the Packers

They have Saints at #16 in their power rankings

He looked very good in the preseason & week 1. Hasn't really stood out since then. Not sure what happened, but he seems to disappear for large chunks of the game. Kind of sad b/c our D-Line sets him up about as good as you could expect. He sucks in pass coverage. That's for damn sure.

Maybe Te'o needs a chance to show what he can do as a starter. Obviously, Robertson isn't coming out of the game.

Been saying this since Allen came back (and was also true in 2014 when Payton tried to dictate the Seahawks scheme to Ryan). And it was also true game one of this season.

I really thought we were heading down a dark road again. I'll give props to Allen for finally relenting and catering the defense to the players like GW did and Ryan got to do in 2013. It's freaking night and day those first two games vs. the last 3.

Just said this in a thread when someone was comparing White's pff scores to Lattimore's.

White is helped by his surrounding cast and they are making him better.

Lattimore is making our whole defense better and allows us to do things we haven't been able to do since losing Greer.

One player is good on a great defense. The other is elite.

As far as Klein goes, I'd wager his coverage score (and his pass rush score to a lesser degree) are tanking his overall. He seems to be a slightly better version of Lofton. I like his run defense, leadership, and ability to get guys lined up and make adjustments, but he definitely isn't the long term answer at Mike.

We need to find that Vilma type player and I REALLY wish we would have grabbed Kendricks but what's done is done. It's critical we keep looking at improving this spot.

Well we've always said that if we just had a top 15 defense we'd be contenders

Our defense during the last 3 games has to be top 5 easily. Those first 2 weeks were horrible.

I never thought he was great or anything, but that low of a score is kind of surprising. I've seen him get to the QB as a pass rusher, & I've seen him make some solid plays against the run. He must have screwed up a lot without me noticing. Obviously, he sucks balls in coverage.

The really bad news is that he's playing 100% of the snaps in most games.

Not by much. And you have a guy that hasn't played the last two weeks (PJ) and another that missed a game (Lattimore) both within 5 tackles. Vaccaro is 1 back, Jordan is 2 back, and Marcus Williams is 3 back.

Vaccaro leads in solo tackles and Klein is 6th.

He has one sack and I recall one other pressure. Not sure how often he rushes, but he at least does us more good at trying to rush and occupying a blocker than he does trying to cover.

He's "okay" in zone but he gets abused in man as he is not near quick enough (his acceleration is awful from what I've seen).

This was my biggest wtf move in FA this year, and while he is an upgrade over Lauranitis, we may have been better off not having him and using Robertson at Mike again as he did very well last year.

I've seen T'eo in coverage a few times and while it was originally said that he'd come out on passing downs he seems to be way closer to his man in coverage than Klein is. Seems they got it arse backwards since camp.

Care to elaborate on what you are calling bs?

Is it responding to the tackle numbers? Because facts are facts and all I did was state what was right there in the link.

Or is it complaining about Klein's coverage and saying T'eo looked better in coverage? That's subjective but I think you'll find many people that have seen what I've seen with Klein getting ripped apart quite a few times on simple crossers.

So you are upset over me "dissing" a player not on our team? Who gives a frick. He doesn't play for us.

Comeon Bone this is an LSU hosted site you know why. We both don't like it but as long as an LSU player was picked in the same round at the same position there will be comparisons.

May not even need to be the same round they still had people saying we should have drafted Jarvis Landry over Brandin Cooks until he was traded.

I know. I know.

But the crazy part is I called him a good player, yet that is considered "tearing him down"? Pretty weak "diss" if you ask me.

Lattimore is better than White imo and by a good bit.

Klein's contract isn't too bad. I really think he'll do well as SLB next year when they find an athletic MLB (think what Anthony was supposed to be).
