Gotta be one of the best morning headlines evah for draftniks.

I have loved some of the investment picks in projects in the Payton era. That said, I think most are tired of 2nd Rd type picks that don't even see the field their first year or two.

I think reading beyond the headline this is Payton finally admitting and seeing this team needs help, which has been the entire theme of this whole season. The same old isn't going to work anymore and this team needs an overhaul.

SJB in the 2nd round last year was the definition of a luxury pick. A guy we knew needed time, but thought we had that time. We don't have that time anymore and Payton sees that.

It's a pretty big deal if the words have any weight and considering their history

T-P coverage

Some of these early selections you're hoping to get some quick help with. And generally the research and the time is spent on how these guys adjust and handle, and what's their desire, and their want to be successful at the next level.

This is an absolute perfect quote:

"And I think if you're looking closely to when we've been real good, there's been that element defensively, there's been that element in the running game."

If true, I think this stops all talk about drafting Winston, Mariota, Dorial Green-Beckham, Shaq Thompson or Ali Marpet in the early rounds.

WR @ 13 would be a reach as the top 2 will be gone. If we go OLB at 13, I highly doubt we go ILB at 31, so WR becomes a possiblity there along with OG. We definitely could use a WR early if the value is there. Misuse of Michael Scott Nooooooo!!!! IMO

Right. We need another 1st round WR.

Not sure why some think WR is so unlikely. Parker would make a lot of sense at 13 if he's there and they brought him in to visit. I'd rather defense but WR isn't out of the question at either pick.

Cooks and Colston are the entirety of Saints receiving options.

While I agree that we have bigger needs, are you really comfortable with Cooks/Colston/Toon as your top 3 WRs? Beyond that, you have mostly unknowns in Saunders/Coleman/Jones. Without Graham, we should spend an early pick on WR. And if the BPA at 31 is a WR, why not take him?

of course it'd be nice to add another expensive toy but with Cooks going to be a 90 catch plus guy, Colston will be probably a 60 catch guy. With Spiller and other young wideouts stepping up, the void isn't too huge.

Nice points Chad. CJ and MI should get plenty of catches. Add a vet like Jennings. Draft a big red zone target in later rounds either WR or TE. We have Morgan back so the position is not bare. If the team listens to me we will have a extra pick in the 2nd to maybe get a WR they like from trading down from the 13th

This screams OT/OG and OLB in the first round. I would love to grab Collins, Scherff or an immediate impact edge rusher at #13.

I'm fine with a WR at 31, but not 13. I don't think Cooks/Colston is enough, but I'm putting too much into Saunders/Coleman/Jones to step up and play. If we grab a WR in the 1st, we have to split it with a LB/DE at 13.

I just really want them to solidify this o-line if they're truly that concerned about Brees' future.
