The patriots and Texans were clearly trying to protect their 3 starters.

Time til Throw:

Hoyer: 1.84
Garoppolo: 2.3
Brady: 2.5 (5 attempts)

The fastest time til Throw last season was Peyton at 2.24. Brees was at 2.64, which was the same as his 2011 season.

Can't generate sacks against that game plan

Edit: I'm not saying we'll have a great pass rush, I'm saying no one knows yet and basing an opinion of those games is a joke

That suggests we give up the underneath, right?

Because we play off man.

During the second half against the patriots we ran almost exclusively off zone.

The first half we were mostly man.

Seems like we do one of those things well.
And we do the other poorly.

I suppose.

Lewis, Browner, and Breaux are going to be at the LOS the majority of the time. I think it depends on matchups.

Wilson will play more off ball. Can't remember what SJB did, but I'd imagine he'd be on ball a lot with his size

We suck at zone coverage, but it looks like we've collected M2M corners. Gonna get a lot of penalties this year, which isn't a bad thing really: see Pats and Seachickens

Certainly. We didn't bring in all these corners to play zone.

Swann seems pretty good at zone defense. I know he's IR'd, but PJ Williams is a M2M guy as well.

I haven't noticed us ever interfering with receivers at the LOS.

Maybe it's just me.

Been saying this since last year when everyone was bitching about the "lack" of pass rush. If the coverage can't hold for at LEAST 3 seconds you have no chance. We need to fix our coverage.

I even put this in the thread bitching about our pass rush versus the Texans, noting how they were killing us with the quick stop routes. We were not prepared at all and didn't adjust.

This is the correct answer.

The stats make complete sense viewed as an average time. Like last year, teams have figured out our LBs can't cover out the backfield.

We'll see if that changes with the new guys in and a little more experience.
