I got reliable sources, front office is infatuated with both. Main reason why we're trying to gain that extra pick. Defense will be the first pick and expect Howard or Engram to be the 2nd pick to give us that redzone threat again. Payton is highly confident Thomas and Snead will be a top league duo. Also there's faith that Coleman will finally break out and Tommy Lee Lewis will be a solid gadget player in the offense with a full year under his belt.

I'm just the messenger. Free agency priority is defense. I'm not surprised if this happens. Payton can't help himself when it comes to offense.

my theory as well. TE's being interchangable with a RB or a QB

I can see why they'd be infatuated. It was a wild success the last time we had a big athletic pass catching tight end. And maybe they want to replicate a Graham type to replace the yards lost if we dump Cooks.

But damn I just can't see that as a pressing need in the 2nd round. We're such shite defensively. Fleener isn't great but he's an adequate pass catcher at TE. I think he can suffice for now while we use those picks on more important holes.

OJ Howard would be awesome as our 2nd rounder but don't see him making it that far. If we get two first rounders you really can't justify not taking both defense.

i wouldn't like the idea of Fleener being leaned on more if Cooks leaves. Fleener was the 4th most targeted player in the passing game last year.

I guess we'll see what happens in FA (if we sign a WR) or draft one.

I have no reason to bullshite you. Bookmark it and draft time come back to this thread. I won't make you eat crow though. We'll have a great talk about how we didn't take two defensive studs. That's if Cooks gets traded.

David njoku out of the U. He's a freak, may end up being the best TE

Could be reminiscent of drew and jimmy G

If we trade Cooks and end up with 2 defensive guys in the 1st round, then I'd be more ok with Engram or Howard in the 2nd. Without Cooks, you've got to make up 1,200 yards and 8 touchdowns somehow. Snead and Thomas are solid at WR. If Payton wants to restock the receiving Corp by upgrading at TE, I guess it wouldn't be the worst idea.

Truest words ever typed. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see a defender first and one of these guys next, not that I'd agree with it. Hopefully the rest of the draft is heavy on defense.

Look at the signings. Tried to tell you this shite is happening. Pass rusher first pick and Engram or OJ with the next pick. Sean Payton loves offense.
