We still get a bye

And in this years playoffs, the 5 and 6 seed (likely 5niners 6packers/lions) will likely be much better than the 4th seed and about even with the 3rd seed. This means that the 4 th seed (shitty nfc east) will get knocked out, and a potential upset game will go on in seattle LIKELY VS NINERS while we will possibly get to play the lions/packers (winner of that game)

Throw the bears in there as well, but i say they r about even with lions ad packers

The number 2 seed could avoid having to play the niners in the 2nd round

And if we do get the 1 seed, then anything is possible at home

We could be playing at home for the nfc champ if this happens

Yeah I think as long as we nab that second seed, we have a great chance. I really want that bye

If it shakes out that we're the # 2 seed that still doesn't mean we won't have home field throughout.

Seattle can be beat.

Exactly. Seattle isn't this juggernaut some are trying to make them out to be.

Exactly. And i can honestly see the niners beating seattle at seattle more than i can see the packers/lions/bears because its a big division rivalry game and anything can happen in those types of games

2nd seed in the playoffs is never "bad"..it's just frustrating to see a team win games that they really should have lost...I mean, really Tampa?..20 point lead.

And us lose on a last play from the patriots, when we should have won that one.

I said this yesterday. #2 seed likely gets Dallas. #1 seed likely gets Green Bay or San Francisco or Carolina.

NFC Seeds 5 and 6 are wild cards, which you’re predicting to be two of the following three teams: 49ers, Packers, Lions

Do you really thing Carolina is not going to make the playoffs over an Aaron Rodgers-less Packers team, just to pick one, or is this just a massive oversight on your part?

It's definitely possible.

Not likely. #1 seed will get Detroit, SF, GB, or Carolina. Unless you think Philly or Dallas can win a playoff game, the #2 seed has the same possible set of opponents less Detroit. The only downside to the #1 seed is a slightly greater chance at getting a healthy GB, who is unlikely to be a #5 seed.

#1 seed gets lowest remaining seed.

I think #5 or #6 GB, SF is scarier than #3 Detroit or #4 Dallas/Philly.

Which would be why 5 or 6 would likely beat 3 or 4 in the WILDCARD round when 1 and 2 are on bye.

You're right, but I don't think that Dallas stands a chance to win against SF/GB/Carolina. And while a healthy GB is the scariest possible opponent, I their eventual loss to Detroit on Thanksgiving will knock them out of the playoff race. They're very lucky they get the Giants and Vikings the next two weeks, but I think they split those games.
