Loomis is famous for getting some free agent bodies into need spots. I think it is emphasized to not have any position being an overwhelming need when drafting. We can use some more big meat in the middle.

A player that fits that mold to me is Shaun Cody of the Texans. He has 8 years NFL NTexperience. His last 2 yr deal with Houston was just under $6mil. At age 30 he won't get that much again. I suspect Houston is moving forward with Earl Mitchell. He replaced Cody after he went IR in Week 9.

He does some entertaining videos for the Texans called On The Nose like HERE

Anyone have more insight to Mr. Cody? Who else could be on the NT shopping list? Any of these guys?-
Kentwan Balmer
Aubrayo Franklin (to play the right position)
Casey Hampton
Maake Kemoeatu
Shaun Rogers
Isaac Sopoaga

I would have no problem with a signing like this. Pretty funny character also.

My pick out of that group would be Maake Kemoeatu or Isaac Sopoaga.

I actually wouldn't mind Aubrayo Franklin. I know he wasn't dominant with us but at his natural position as a 3-4 NT I think he can still be great, he's most likely affordable and the perfect stop gap until we find a long term solution.

Rogers and Hampton need to retire. I wouldn't be opposed to bringing in Franklin again, and I don't know much about the others.

Hampton would be cool to bring in on like a 1 year deal to mentor our guys in the 3-4 system and to rotate in to contribute. Not going to be the main guy, though. Shaun Cody would only fit as the NT if we used a Wade Philips type 3-4 (basically a 5-2), otherwise we need a bigger Nose.

Agreed. Plus his mustache makes him look like a rapist, and the last thing the Saints need is a rape conspiracy. Unless the coaches are certain that Bunkley can get the job done (and I'm warming up to it, mostly out of desperation), we need to make bringing back Franklin a realistic FA priority. Went from a great 3-4 NT in SF, to a subpar 1 tech here, and back to a better than average NT in SD despite getting up there in age. He just belongs there and he's still good at it. S opoaga and Hampton should be other solid options, but they're more of a depth type signing that need limited snaps, whereas I think Franklin can still be a 2-down starter.

Franklin, age 32, 285 snaps in 12 games, 9 starts. PFF graded him +5.4

Sopoaga. age 31, 335 snaps in 14 games, 9 starts. PFF had him as the 2nd lowest graded NT-12

Hampton, age 35, 503 snaps in 16 games, 16 starts, -9.4 PFF grade

Is Fili Moala of the Colts a real NT? Thinking he's more like a Bunkley type drafted into that role at Indy. He was fulltime before going down with a knee injury. Also only 27 coming off his rookie contract. Hey, he's Haloti Ngata's cousin.

Think I'm liking Brandon Williams or Kwame Geathers in the 3rd Rd more and more
