NFL is not even following their own rules:
The NFL rule book specifically requires both teams appear on the field for the playing of the anthem, standing, remaining quiet, and holding their helmets in their left hands. Failure to do so can result in fines, suspensions, and the loss of draft picks.
The rules are found on pages A62-63 of the league’s game operations manual:
The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem.
During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.

I watched the entire Saints game and other than about 10 seconds showing some players sitting with hands over their hearts (most of them) everything I saw and heard was about football
This x 100. The people posting about this are going out of their way to be offended. If you were to just, I don’t know, just watch the game it wouldn’t be a big deal.

You can blame fat arse in the white house for this.
God forbid The Commander in Chief and President of the United States of America make any comments about disrespecting the American Flag and The National Anthem!
WTF was he thinking!
It's the media driving this BS agenda.
Don't put the cameras on them and it goes away in two weeks.

Apparently you don't listen to sports radio, watch espn, or any other news outlet...
Post game Saints press conferences
Any and all "news" shows incorrectly lecturing the American people and fans about the First Amendment

So if I have a different opinion and complain about the media driving a false narrative....
I should just not comment on a message board?

I have been watching on mute for about 5 years now, also use DVR to skip the commercials and especially the human interest stories...

I tune into football to get away from all this political nonsense, and now I can't even do that.
that's not why I watch football.
But in a way.. the Sound Byte machine that is Donald Trump deserves blame here too. I thought the kneeling/sitting angle had died down some.
but leave it to an unqualified hair piece to rant about the NFL while speaking to a group of rednecks in Alabama. I'm a redneck too though just in case you want to know.. its a curse and blessing where I live.
but anyway.. since he did that all of a sudden thanks in part to the social media obsessed society we live in.. a nice shite storm has formed.
I don't agree at all with what the players did yesterday yet it had zero effect on my day.
A few reasons I'm sour on the NFL and College Football is that both are money hungry cash cow machines. Both are oversaturated now I believe. You can't hit in football like you use to and the refs still blow calls even after reviews sometimes. Reviews slow down the game, half of the time they aren't even needed. I hate Roger Goodell with a passion and I blame the idiots who allowed him the amount of power he has. And to top it off the Saints still have some of the same old issues they've had for the last few years.. we'll likely be 7-9 again this year.
I'm glad we won yesterday but Carolina is a joke (especially on offense) but injuries have started to pile up on them so its understandable.
rant over.
I don't feel better or worse.

Trump's rant was about supporting America. That's what got him elected. He dissed Kaeperprick for dissing America. Get your facts straight - not from MSNBC - THINK for yourself.

it had more to do with people who didn't want to see the clintons back in the white house.
but okay.

It had more to do with certain folks' deep-seated need to be the ones who get to decide which other folks "deserve" to be considered "real" Americans....but okay.

It's not just the NFL. Trump had to go and insert his insecure micro penis in and stir up the hornet's' nest even more.
