No longer can I watch football to escape political drama
Posted by Midget Death Squad on 9/25/17 at 11:42 am6413
The NFL has become a muddied mess of political drama, and this is a sad thing. I tune into football to get away from all this political nonsense, and now I can't even do that. It's impossible to turn on a game without hearing about protest this, protest that and all that other bullshite. Yes this absolutely angers me, because now it is all part of the quagmire that sucks everyone down into stress and anger.
It baffles me how these idiots don't recognize this? The reason ratings are down is because people are like me regarding this. People are tuning in to NOT be exposed to political bullshite, but instead it's doubled down on us.
How many games in the past showed the National Anthem on tv prior to this Colin Kaypernick foolishness? I honestly don't remember seeing it ever. Now we are shown it with the cameras focusing on players protesting, and we have to hear commentary from the damn announcers about political discourse.
DURING A FOOTBALL GAME
Unreal.
Last year I pretty much stopped watching NFL games except for Saints as a result of this, not much out of anger but rather I just don't want to see it. I'd rather do something else with my kids than have to sit through more political bickering.
Now the Saints are part of this madness, and I am truly at a loss. I'm tired of it, and this shite has to end. Protest on your own time you selfish bastards and leave the games where they belong, to us the fans.

They only want to spread love and unity though.

How to avoid politics and football
Game is for noon, tune in at 1215
Game is on, put it on mute
Don't read sports articles

MLB.TV has a great feature where you can choose "ballpark" and that way you don't hear the announcers. Only the fans and the stadium announcer. It's a heavenly way to watch baseball. I think I would pay $200 to have this option for NFL games. The only bad thing is that in football sometimes the announcers are helpful in saying there's a flag during a big play so you know not to get too excited.

Which should not be a requirement to enjoy football. That's absurd.

Right! Spread love and unity via hate and division. Way to go assholes

What sucks is we were starting to see an end to the kneeling. You had a handful of guys doing that. Very easy to ignore that. Once Trump said the SOB line and just dove into shite he shouldn't have I knew this would be a mess. Now instead of enjoying a Saints win we have endless political arguments. The media wins.

The only hate and division is coming from the people who are against the kneeling. Very fine people.

Right. The can't avoid politics in football thing is such bs. I turned on the game during the first drive and can't say I recall anything political. I avoided it just fine.
But people have to whine and make a big deal about people whinning and making a big deal.
Now you have people like me whinning about the whinners whinning about the whinners.
When will it all stop?
Oh if you ignore it it goes away? The worst people are the ones whinning about it here on the Saints board. I've seen more bullshite here about it than anywhere else. Maybe if y'all shut the frick up and ignore it it will go away.

Lol, dude just mute it. I don't wanna hear these lame arse commentators to begin with, I turn it on, mute and watch while listening to other things. Or I'll put Redzone on for fantasy purposes.

Counted about 15 threads whinning about the kneeling, compared to 4 threads saying how the kneelers are playing well/joking they should kneel every game if they play well and one thread about the Saints releasing a statement.
The people whinning about the kneeling are the ones bringing politics to this board. Shut the frick up about it.

Yeah it all pisses me off. I try my best to avoid the ignorance and political stuff at all cost. Now it was in every channel with NFL yesterday, every sports talk show local and national today, and in this board and several others.

One button can mute your TV.
Turning a game somewhat late will not affect your 3hrs.
Not reading articles is rather simple, just go on here

I watched the entire Saints game and other than about 10 seconds showing some players sitting with hands over their hearts (most of them) everything I saw and heard was about football

I was trying this but people keep flooding the board whinning about it.
Now I have to click page 2 to get to threads I actually wanted to have a discussion in. Y'all ruined my life making me see all these political topic titles to look for actual football.

Only clicked on a couple of vague titles and only went back to about the start of the game. I know there were some from saturday and earlier sunday I missed.
