from Tenn football writer, good takere HERE

I am excited about him in the satellite role but even more excited for the future. I think he can take on a larger role than he even had with the Vols. Reminds me a lot of Devonta Freeman...

quote:

So you think Kamara could eventually become a three-down back to replace Ingram when Mark's contract is up in two years?

I know I've already said this a couple of times, but it's a resounding “YES” from me. It was ludicrous that Jalen Hurd was the feature back during most of Kamara's tenure. Every time he touched the ball, he left fans screaming for more. He's an electric player with the ball in his hands, and when he was asked to run between the tackles, he did it well. He isn't a tip-toer, and his one-cut ability is elite. He reminds me a lot of Tiki Barber or Thomas Jones, and I see him having that type of career on the next level. He isn't needed to be a starter right away, but he absolutely could be RB1 sooner rather than later. Again, I want to reiterate an important thing about his pro ceiling is the lack of wear and tear on his body. That cannot be overstated. Getting a low-mileage guy with his upside is an exceptional buy for a third-round pick.

I'm excited. Giving up next year's 2 is rich but i hope it pays off. I seriously doubt we'll have both Ingram and peterson both back in 12 months. Should be a fun year watching these 3 backs in the offense.

yup, he may not make it to any bell cow type role (can any RB under Payton?) but I'm loving the idea that we have a guy that could step into the #1 role in the near future.

This and the Ramcheck pick are great examples of taking value that may not meet the greatest need but builds greater longterm success. The offense has been a solid Top 5 year after year. Those of us who have watched every play since Payton can tell the difference of quality in those Top 5s. I truly think they are on the verge of stepping back up to the dominant type play we remember from the best years.

A lot of that time frame will depend on how those three workout in 2017...If all three are key components to the offense I could see doing nothing different in 2018, now passed that point Ingram, AP or both may be gone.

Even when Ingram contract is over. If he's willing and happy with his situation there's always the chance they play a 1-2 with him and Kamara. They complement each other and could be more balanced than freeman/Coleman.

Reminds me of what Williams and Stewart were able to pull off that year.

Everytime I watched a Tennesee game he stood out. I was really excited with the pick and didn't even mind giving up next year's 2nd for it. We need the help this year while Drew is still elite (and here.)

This x1000.

I was not against it even without factoring Drew into the decision but once you factor Drew and winning now into the equation it was close to a no brainer.

This to me is the Saints counter to Atlanta Coleman and Carolina Mccaffrey to keep up

I'm thinking the move was more in response to Atlanta.

I think it really chaps Sean's arse that the Falcons were seen as an explosive offense. I truly expect to see him rev up the offense this season, to prove he's still the man...

Thinking 2011 domination on offense with what I am seeing, Brees, solid oline, 3 headed RB attack, top WR core, solid at TE. D was close last year, but too many injuries. We keep these guys healthy, even a mid 15 on D will win us a lot of games.

I we can even get to just 20th in points allowed we would have a great improvement in record.

Between 2014-2016 we finished 28th, 32nd, and 31st in points allowed. In 2012 we finished 31st.

Despite giving up so many points each of those years we still finished 7-9 in everyone and were a few plays away each year from finishing 10-6 or better.

Edit:
Upon further inspection, everytime we finished 19th or better in points allowed we had a winning record. Everytime we finished 25th or worse we went 8-8 or 7-9.

So it seems as long as we can be top 20 in points allowed we'll have a winning record.

Dude's good. Throughout most of Brees's history as a Saint, we've had RB's who could make plays as a receiver. Dude has a chance to help us do what Bush/PT/Sproles did. Definitely not saying that he'll be as good as any of them, but no more Cadet tomfoolery.

Next person to say Cadet is gonna get my size 10 boot up their arse.

I guess that's some sort of Super Troopers reference there.

None of the local malls have a Cadet's restaurant.

People are just happy to be rid of him. And With Ingram and AD ahead of Kamara, he'll probably see a similar number of snaps as Cadet did last year. I think it's reasonable for people to bring up Cadet when speaking of Kamara.

I do wish that we'd given Lasco more snaps at RB last season to see what he could do. I think Kamara can be a stud, but Lasco looks like he has the talent to play a similar role with a much lower opportunity cost.

Not sure anyone will be happier than me to see Mr. Five Yards and Down finally be gone.

And what was that about Shenanigans?

On a serious note, didn't Lasco get hurt and that's why he didn't play more?

Yep, it seems to me if we have even a mid grade Defence (15) we win a lot fo games. Last year's special team frick ups was just chery on top and cost us 3 games. Those coaches are gone.
