Brooks played on teams with at least SOME talent. I agree that he is clowned more than he should be though. That frick face just pissed me off, smiling after throwing interceptions or backwards passes. frick that dude, but he was more talented than a lot of people on here care to admit.

I completely agree with this.

Even in 2005 though, he put up Archie numbers

Overrated: Bobby Hebert. There was an ESPN poll a few years ago where fans voted him the Face of the Franchise. A guy who never won a playoff game and whose holdout destroyed the future of the franchise with the Steve Walsh trade.

Underrated: Vaughan Johnson. Never got the glory because he wasn't 5'9" and he didn't sack the QB. Nobody tackled harder than him in a Saints uniform.

Brooks won a playoff game with Terry Allen at RB. Hebert never did with a better defense.

And Brooks and Willie Jackson took that game. He wasn't a game manager in that one.

I'm sorry you're new to the board and don't understand this isn't a place for insult matches.

People don't like you because you don't back up your arguments, you just call everyone stupid.

Do us all a favor and post elsewhere.

"I am not saying he was terrible I just don't think he was very good."

I don't say this as proof that you're wrong, but did you get to see Archie play?

Finks panicked because Fourcase was crap. We gave up a 1, 2, and 3 for him. Some of it became the foundation for Jimmy Johnson's Cowboys. Not as much as the Herschel Walker trade. I believe one of those picks was turned into Erik Williams.

Hebert doesn't get pissy because he was (deservedly) benched for Fourcade (who almost single-handedly saved the 89 season), that never happens.

Modern Day Saints

Overrated: Jahri Evans. First things first--I AM NOT SAYING THAT JAHRI EVANS IS CRAP. He's one of the best guards in the NFL. However, I do expect fewer holding penalties from THE premiere guard in the NFL

Underrated: Pierre Thomas. He could put up Dalton Hilliard-like numbers if he was the feature back in an offense that didn't break so many passing records.

He was overrated as a prospect. In contrast, when most people look at the career that he had with the Saints, I think that he is appropriately rated, and maybe even given a little too hard of a time.

Most Underrated: M. Colston

Not with the fan base, but nationally he has to be one of the most underrated players in the league. I guess there are lot of wide receivers putting up good stats in this era, but it is still hard to understand how he hasn't made it to a pro bowl yet.

You never answered whether or not you actually saw him play.

I'll hang up and listen...

"when most people look at the career that [Bush] had with the Saints, I think that he is appropriately rated, and maybe even given a little too hard of a time."

this is in line with my view. to hear some Saints fans talk about Bush, you would think he "sucked." I think he was a very valuable piece of an offensive powerhouse. Probably should not have been the #1 pick in the draft, but he has been a productive player.

Overrated: I think you have to consider Will Smith. Given his position and pay, you would hope to see a real game-changer and Smith isn't that. He is good but not a star.

Underrated: Drew Brees. A bit of a shock choice, but he saved a franchise.

I always though Ricky Williams was highly underrated. People over-value the dumbass Mike Ditka trade, but fact is he was very productive. Just under 900 yards as a rookie (while missing 4 games and being hobbled for most of the rest) extropolate that out over the season and he gets just shy of 1200 while carrying the weight of the franchise thanks to the draft trade. His second year he had 1000 yards in 10 games, on pace for 1600 in a full season (thats a good/great season no matter who you are) then 1245 in a full season his last in new orleans.

He averaged about 1400 yards from scrimmage all while missing 3 1/3 games per year. Or about 550 more per game than reggie bush did.

I think a lot of people just felt like since he didn't seem to like New Orleans that much and the pressure seemed to have gotten to him, that he just wasn't very good with the Saints, that's why I feel he was very underrated.
