Admittedly, I have been pretty agitated about the Saints 2014 season and have said I'm not going to care anymore , but this draft has me getting antsy.

2006 was all about Reggie. Of course, before they signed Brees, I was all about Vince Young after watching the 2005 Rose Bowl. But it became the wait to see if we could get Bush.

Now we have two 1st (13 and 31), two 3rd, and two 5th. Of course, the way the off season has gone has really made me question the ego of winning that last game against a shitty TB team, but I digress

Will we nab a LB like Dupree since Beasley will be gone? Or what if somehow White or Cooper is there (they won't be, but could be at 9...)? Will Scherff or Collins be there and will we take one?

Or do we trade up or back? I just know I like having this many picks

I overall dislike the sentiment about an exciting draft, because all drafts are equally as important. We are in this boat now because of the poor drafting habits of this team. That being said, I kind of agree with you about a similar need in 2006. Brees was a fresh face for the franchise, but we still needed that poster child to reboot the franchise. Reggie was that guy in 2006. My mind is telling me that the Saints should focus on the offensive line, but the time since the Graham trade (still a fan of the move) has me thinking we need another fresh face for the Saints franchise.

I really, really, really hope the FO does not trade up in search of this, but if number 13 comes around and there's still some flash in the pan (like an Amari Cooper) then I hope they go for it. I still have high hopes for Cooks and Ingram, they are more than capable of being synonymous with the Saints brand if they fully realize their abilities and put up big numbers.

At this time we have more draft picks than I am used to. The draft should be more exciting just because of this. Do they move up, move down, or draft the picks as is. The options available lead me to believe this should be a more exciting draft than in the last few

yes definitely.

High pick, lots of talent on the board, and we have a lot of picks int eh first 3 rounds.

Should be awesome.

But we have more picks. Just having 2 in the 1st round is more than a conventional draft. But add two 3rds and 5ths and it's exciting.

That's what I'm wondering about exactly. I think Collins and Scherff will be gone by 13 so who do we take?

I'd love him or White at 13, but I don't see how they would possibly be there.

Agreed. That was actually my last "exciting" draft was after we took Jordan, I really wanted the Saints to trade up and get Ingram.

As long as we don't trade up I think it's the most exciting draft since 2006.

Most exciting draft now...

Most meltdowns on draft day(s)...

The front office doesn't have the goodwill it once did and it looks like we are going in some new direction which will frustrate and confuse fans. When no mock has B. McKinney in the top 20 and we take him at 13 with Laél Collins still on the board, this place will go so crazy that Chad will burn down the Poli Board just to try to grasp some sanity while blues losses his mind and tries to book plane tickets on monster.com so he can beat Jeff Ireland with a Brandon Cooks cutout.

On 2006 and VY, I have never understood why so many Saints fans were infatuated with VY.
If fans actually watched his skills IN THE POCKET (especially throwing mechanics), they would have realized that he would not be a very good pro.

I knew that VY was gonna be a bust.

Regarding this draft....I am excited but cautiously. Micky and CSP have really screwed the pooch on recent drafts.

There are a couple of reasons for the recent struggles....
1) ML & SP are all too willing to trade picks to either move up or in other moves. This has hurt our depth and our cap situation because we have to rely on FA too much.
2) They have become entirely too infatuated with "projects". Entirely too many picks being wasted on guys with great raw athletic ability, but little else to offer. Don't get me wrong.....I am not bashing raw arhletic ability, but with the way that these picks are failing.....we are obviously not valuing the other attributes enough and the athletic ability too much.

What I am hoping for is that we can either stay pat with our picks (and draft Sherff) in the first then BPA. Or trade back and acquire more picks. This team needs an infusion of young cheap talent in order to help with depth am immediate impact.
If we can keep at least the number of picks we have now, or add to it.....we could see a very solid roster for the next few years. The caveat being that ML & SP do a better job with the draft.

Sorry in advance for any grammatical errors.......I'm on my phone.

It could've been the greatest game many had ever seen and watching VY dominate like no other before him.

We needed a QB, we had a backwards passing jackass on the team. Saints fans wanted a QB. When they signed Brees, I was completely stoked and moved right on to Bush who I wanted as much as anyone. But before the Brees signing we needed a QB.

They trade up to #9, I might blow a gasket. They should already be picking there.

I'm with this, but Scherff will be gone.
