Mike Periera says it's all good

...on his Facebook show:
Says it's legal to push the center down and jump over him.
Says he can't tell if the guy stepped out.
Did not address the running start by the leaper.
I guarantee the saints will get a flag if they ever try this type of block.

Isn't he the guy that always agrees with everything the refs call?

Periera can go frick himself

Penalty: (for (a) through (i)): Loss of 15 yards from the succeeding spot or whatever spot the Referee, after consulting with the crew, deems equitable. If the foul is by the defense, it is also an automatic first down.
(p) Jumping or standing on a teammate or opponent to block or attempt to block an opponent’s kick.
(q) Placing a hand or hands on a teammate or opponent to gain additional height to block or attempt to block an opponent’s kick.
(r) Picking up a teammate to block or attempt to block an opponent’s kick
(s) Running forward and leaping in an obvious attempt to block a field goal or Try Kick and landing on players, unless the leaping player was originally lined up on the line of scrimmage when the ball was snapped.

It's the "and landing on a player(s)" that made it legal. Both parts have to be true to be a penalty. I still can't believe it's legal to drag the center down to jump over him. That's the part I'm still griping about
Also he clearly stepped out. Heard the replay of the live broadcast and even duece said he stepped out without the replay

Then every team should hold down the center and try to jump on every FG or PAT for the rest of the year.

Yep by the rule it was legal but bs that someone can hold the center down like that.
Thought the long snapper was a defenseless player and could not be engaged

They will have to add (d) placing hands on an opponent so your team mate can hurdle the opponent to block an opponent's kick.
The spirit of this rule was violated, but not the letter of the rule. They will have to add the letter.
If a center is considered defenseless in this case, then placing hands on him to hold him down would be a penalty, but I do not know that rule.

Periera... in all the times I've watched him... has been fair and when an official's screwed up he's called them out on it
I think we all agree now the leap was fine... the obvious 2 bones of contention would be the potential hold of Drescher & Evans to allow the leap to not be leverage
and of course... the fact that Parks stepped out of bounds

To be fair, Periera was the only official to come out and say the Saints hits on the Vikings in 09 were clean.

Your poor lying eyes. It was a figment of your imagination

I haven't been this mad in a long time. Trying to walk it off.

basically this.
i remember one year the Saints got flagged for defensive holding on a fricking FG attempt at the end of the game. Of course the kicker missed the kick on that play but then nailed it on the next try. Mid 2000's.. fricking crap.
just shitty arse luck when it all comes down to it.
but if we had not turned the ball over so much today the game doesn't likely come down to that.
its refreshing that we were even in the game despite all those turnovers.. the defense played hard I thought.
btw, what god damn difference would it make if Periera sided with us? It'd just piss me off more honestly

What a terrible freaking rule
Posted on 11/14/16 at 9:36 am to pensacola
It's legal to hold or push someone down in the back. That is the definition of an illegal block in the back. Also looks like his hands hit his helmet which is also a penalty. And then there is holding.
3 separate penalties. None called.

I think a block in the back has to be from behind
