Well, we want to know something. So we listen to the media. He was cut because his body was "breaking down". That's what we know. We believe it. Now the Saints sign him. Other than what he's done in the past, that's all we know.

Well, we've carried 6 wide receivers many, many times.

The amount of running backs is a little strange, but not the most shocking thing.
Right, but that's where a dullard like me would look for possible moves.

Whatevs, Vilma to IR/designated to return. Not sure if takes up roster spot.

Nope. That's Meachem's now. They'll have until week 8 to decide what to do. Hopefully, he's averaging 30 yards a catch w/ 5-6 TDs by then.

I honestly don't think Smith and Vilma on IR hurts us except for depth. They really aren't special players.

I agree. I'm a lot less worried about Vilm's spot with the playing of Humber and Reddick. They will do OK if Lofton or Hawthorne have to rest a couple of games.

I agree with that, which makes it odd. But, we all know of the chemistry with Drew he had. I find this strange and all, but if this is a minimum contract, and just to see if he can contribute, in a place where he once did, I am more than ok with it.

I'm hoping him being "broken down" is some bull shite though. If he is, then needs to just be a contract to retire as a Saint.

Did they really have chemistry? It looks like Drew has chemistry with anyone he throws to.

I think he was a product of the Payton and Brees system, but there is at least a lot of familiarity there. The chemistry is that they have experience together, they know each other well.

He definitely isn't a top receiver, and the Saints knew that. He was and could possibly be a valuable piece though. The Chargers made the mistake of overpaying for something he isn't.

Doesn't make much sense to me.

Supposedly he is broken body wise. So whatever but I don't really care for the signing. Looks a little desperate

Meachem manages to run by guys and still look like an old man doing it.

He's "looked" broken down since we drafted him. He's never been a smooth runner.

If he wasn't out there catching bombs, I can understand why some SD folks might think he was breaking down.

This signing confuses me. I trust Payton knows more than I do, but I doubt it.

OK, maybe he knows more.

Tanner definitely should have a future here.

Guy is talented.

I think the Saints have jerked him around enough.

Guys with talent don't get jerked around. He's a marginal NFL player at best. He's a gritty player and I admire the hell out of him, but if he had real talent he likely would've been picked up for good multiple times already. If he's playing meaningful snaps against San Fran or Seattle we are likely in big trouble.

What sounds better when releasing a guy you just payed a nice chunk of change to and realize he doesn't fit what you're trying to do.

His body is breaking down

We fricked up and paid the wrong dude LAST year.

Maybe so. Again, I'll be happy with being wrong.

The fact that he has a leg will inevitably be revealed in week one via Sean Payton.

I don't mind.

When Meachem left, our offense suffered early on from having no true deep threat to stretch the field.

Then Joe Morgan stepped up to fill the void as a true deep threat.

Then Joe Morgan was lost for the season.

Then Kenny Stills stepped up to fill the void as a true deep threat.

If Stills goes down, there is no true deep threat behind him (although Toon is a capable deep, he is primarily a RAC guy than a true deep threat)

I like Meachem as insurance if he can return to the form he showed as a Saint.

Not at all we are cool at WR but trust me he can only help. Im sure Drew had something to do with this.He often talks about chemistry with WR especially in game situations.
