Just from the the first five or six days of camp I really do believe this guy is gunna be a pro bowl and easily the steal of the draft in the middle of he second round.
Damn we have been missing that kind of safety for awhile now and it makes such a huge difference.
Him and kamara are the two type of players that pay dividends on third downs and we have been missing both for awhile now
Damn I'm exited for these two, so glad they pulled the trigger on both.
This might go down as one of the best drafts ever and will rivil that 06 class.
Sorry for the rant lol

This was a good draft, the last couple have been. Nice to not see the Saints upper management pulling risky unknown draft picks and go back to best available.
I think changes in scouting have made a difference.

I have high hopes for him. He's not a boom/bust type pick(like Jabrill Peppers & Obi Melifonwu)...very safe pick imo. I'd be surprised if he ended up busting. At the very least...I think he'll be a productive player for us by his 3rd year. Very big ceiling to go along with a safe floor imo.

Yeah man I mean every player we picked seriously has a chance to play.
Even Muhammad in the 6th was a steal if you look at his measurable s and athleticism.
But Marcus Williams is gunna be the pick when we look back in two to three years and everyone is gunna say can't believe we got him in the mid to late 2nd
Guys got it has heart wants to be the best and off the charts athleticism.
I'm in love with him because you can tell he has that Earl Thomas intensity where they don't even watch TV they just watch and study football

And to think, people were melting like butter over some of the picks.
Ram in particular, makes Payton look psychic.

Thank Jeff Ireland. The man can project talent. Hope he stays a while

I do believe these baws were best on their board but their board was better with smarter people help setting the board

At the time...there was a huge melt over both Ramczyk & Marcus Williams. The Marcus Williams melt didn't last very long, but the Ramczyk melt lasted until Armstead went down with some people on here.

#1 rated tackle by many taken with the last pick of the 1st round. Not sexy, but people act as if building an OL is as simple as plug and play.
Consistently elite teams have had strong trenches on both side.

Anzalone too.
He's looking like the best drafted defender next to Williams at this point and the LB position is wide open.
This draft was spot on so far.

I admit that I was puzzled by the Anzalone pick at first. Not because of talent, but b/c of his injury history. Seems to be working out good so far though.
Anzalone was literally the only draft pick that I didn't agree with 100% at the time. Lattimore at 11, Ramczyk at 32, & Kamara in the 3rd round were absurd value.

quote:agreed. The trade up for Kamara was nice imo. Also drafting the best OT at 32 was also smart.

I don't think there was a HUGE melt over Williams. I loved the pick, considering we were getting rid of Byrd.
But I do remember a vast majority of people losing their shite over the Ram pick. I did at first and then I saw where he was the consensus 16-17th best player in the draft and we got him at 32. I was happy with that.

Well Melvin if you can't see it that s your problem kids a baller has the intelligence to go along with the physical.
I'm just excited for what kind of safety he is also haven't had one basically since sharper and sharper had one or two good years left when he got here.
He will be a pro bowler by year five without any significant injuries.
Why couldn't we have gotten Ireland sooner along with showing vitt and ol Bill the door sooner lol

quote:This pick hearkens back to the Jim Finks philosophy of drafting and building a team. Finks said you always like to take a big guy (ie lineman) in round 1 if the talent is there. Skill positions can be found later in the draft, but good linemen tend to go quickly.

And most of the melt was because they didn't trade the Ram and Williams draft spots to move up and get a likely defensive bust

I mean people (on here as well) always rave about how Dallas' OL is so elite and they wish we had an OL like that.
I mean look at their OL last year:
Smith 1st round, 9th overall
Frederick 1st round, 31st overall
Martin 1st round, 16th overall
Collins UDFA, was considered a top 15 prospect
Free 4th round, 122nd overall - retired after a decade
Leary UDFA, was considered a 3rd round talent before questions about his degenerative knee
Depth:
Green 3rd round, 91st overall
Looney 4th round, 117th overall
They invested 3 1st rounders into their OL and got VERY lucky on two (leary/collins). They didn't sit still either with spending middle rounds on depth and talent too. Can't build an OL with UDFA and late rounders and hope you get that kind of OL. You build like that you get seattle/GB

Don't forget Jonathan Cooper the 1st rounder from AZ that they picked up last season and seems to have won their starting LG spot.
