any safety looks really bad with an anemic pass rush

yup.

He has saved our arse 2 or 3 times this year. He has done that since he has been here. His career is full of game winning plays. He has had plenty of bad games but his huge games are always overlooked.

Thank you. I'm not denying he been crucial to our turnaround, but the fact still remains he is primarily a hit first, tackle second defender.

Trey Wingo is an idiot who needs his head examined then. Pointless sensationalism is one thing, outright stupidity is another. Not bashing Jenkins but this is just irresponsible chatter.

Just off the top of my head I'd say Aldon Smith's performance last night
was more impressive than anything Jenkins has done and will probably ever do in his career.

outside of maybe 4 plays, has he really been that crucial to our turnaround or he's been crucial because of those 4 plays?

Whaaaa...? In 54 regular season games I can think of 2 or 3 plays that might qualify as "game winning". Really they're just game saving.

I like Jenkins and he's been one of my favorites since we drafted him as well. There's no denying he generally doesn't wrap up tackles. I think if as the dline improves so will he. A lot is asked of him with Roman's bad coverage skills and lack of pressure up front.

Me too. And the play he made at Tampa to stop that touchdown, and don't forget the play he made in the backfield on the goalline after, really get him gold stars.

But we shouldn't kid ourselves. He's not a reliable tackler and has taken some really, really bad routes to the ball/ball carrier. I'm going to give him credit, though, that he doesn't give up and he plays to :00. I admire that, but it doesn't cloud my judgement of him.

Wingo is suffering from Blake Griffin syndrome. He sees the highlights on sportscenter, but doesn't look to see that he's shooting 32% from the floor.

Jenkins has had some really great highlight plays and he's been burned a few times too. Just like every other saftey in the NFL.

I like Jenkins because he is a starting quality FS in the NFL with the ability to play a little bit of CB from time to time.

He is a terrible tackler and always seems to take a bad angle. But he has been on fire the past few weeks so hopefully he can keep it up because if so he could be a fantastic player

defensive player of the year he is definitely not, but he has changed the face of quite a few games in Nola.

alright I'll admit its suspect.

Look, I'm playing devils advocate for a player who doesn't totally deserve all the hate.

He doesn't tackle with any kind of form, he just lunges at people and tries to knock them on their arse to tackle them. It causes whiffs.
Hate to say it, but he's a neck injury waiting to happen. Head-down, Superman diving all over the field is going to get him hurt.
