I know I'll get landblasted, but our offense would be so damn badass! I know we need defense and we can get that in free agency and the draft.

Isn't he one more blunt away from a full year suspension?

it would be, dude is straight elite.

too bad he will cost something like 10mil yr which is a legit pass rusher or corner.

difference between Bell and Ingram is a lot smaller than Gilmore/Mo Claiborne/Bouya to Webb/Moore

If that's our route, draft Cook or Fournette. Don't pay a fortune for Bell.

Would be exciting, but not what we need.

Yep. Could spend that money for a vet guard or corner instead if they really think it's a need. Bell also benefits from an offensive line that can get out there on screens. We don't have that as of now

I'd take Cooks, Thomas, and Snead

Not to crap on your idea cuz the dude is legit, but didn't we just become like the second team in NFL history to have a 5K QB, a 1K RB, and 2 1K WRs in the same season? Offense is not the problem.

Well the numbers the "trade Drew crowd now" have are quite astonishing.

no you wont dude is a bonafide elite that would make about 29 other teams better at the position he plays.

I think with the money we have this season it is an option to apply legitimate thought to. I do not think he will make it out of Pitt without a tag so this is all purely hypothetical and more than likely a situation that will never come into effect beyond random offseason thread banter.

However if we entertain the idea that Bell were to become an UFA and if Sean came to his senses and realized that running the ball and committing to it every single game could pay dividends in the result of every single game...it would be money well spent IMO.

Ingram can not handle a full workload and nothing we have on the roster is game breaking NFL talent at the RB position. If we think about most of the successful aging NFL QBs many(not all) had RBs that helped carry the team. Favre, Elway, Aikman etc.

A running game that is to be feared at the level we are considering in terms of an upgrade has never been existent in NOLA since Drew has been here.

Leveon and Mark together could be the best 1-2 punch in the NFL. Again it is worth more thought than a quick dismissal. Leveon is an elite back across the board and could extend Drews' shelf life.

It is lazy to say that an offense that has been top 5 statistically in yards but lacking at times in taking over the game in critical moments and drive efficiency since 2009 could not benefit from a RB who can take over games and keep Ingram near 100% all season.

Simply put while I agree with the logic that some of the posters have used to defend their stance on adding defensive pieces with the same allotment of money. I also think adding a top RG and if an elite RB made themselves available those 2 positions can win you just as many games. We could still retain all our FA's and if we still wanted to make a FA play for 1 more piece we can move around enough funds to make 1 more solid signing.

If we are going all in on 2017 trying to keep Drew and make a series of final playoff pushes we can not half commit to the idea. Leveon could have a greater impact on our season IMO than overpaying to sign a top tier FA CB.

We don't need an everydown back right now but I would love an upgrade from Cadet.

This is the one case where I'd be okay with taking Fournette. Le'Veon Bell is a beast but you don't pay any RB the amount of money he's gonna demand and Ingram is a fine enough back.

how do we know Ingram cannot handle a full load, when we don't run the ball much?

He has never played a full 16 games in a NFL season. He is solid dont get me wrong I love Ingram. In my ideal world we would put the ball in our backs hands 35 times a game. I was not knocking Ingram as much I was trying to say that our only NFL back right now is Ingram. A backfield with Bell and Ingram would be formidable and could allow the Saints to dictate the flow of the game. We could easily run the ball 30+ times a game and never tire either back while always forcing defenses into more predictable sets.

I think the only reason I would not be open to signing Bell is the fact that Sean would be required to feed the running game multiple times on every drive and I do not trust him to do so. So paying a premium for a toy that could be on the sideline while we go empty set on 3rd and 1 would only make my head explode.

Leveon has only done this once and missed 10 games just last year.

Every team in the league would love to add Bell. He'll end up staying in Pittsburgh though, and it would be foolish for a team with a good running back and glaring holes defensively to tie up that kind of cap space with another running back
