I think last season settled the question: If you had to choose, would you rather watch a great defense with a bad offense... or watch a great offense with a bad defense?
I mistakenly used to think that since defense wins championships, that I'd prefer our dominant Dome Patrol saddled down with an incompetent OC like Carl Smith... as opposed to having a Dan Marino stats machine shackled down with a defense that couldn't stop a HS offense.
Neither scenario produces a winning team, but at least our team last year, with the worst defense in NFL history, produced a shitload of watchable thrillers, and we were in every game outside of a handful of duds.
Watching the Dome Patrol work so hard, drive after drive, to keep us in the game, only to see Carl Smith's predictable & boring offense contribute FG's, punts, Int's, 3&9 off tackle calls, or 3&9 incompletions was like a slow punch in the gut.
