From what i read online payton states if Josh Hill was in this years draft the Saints would have him the top rated TE in this years draft at6-5/256 with 4.56 speed. Now he did say they plan to draft a TE in the draft but that to me is to take Watson s spot for next year as even at age 34 they think he has enough gas in the tank for one more year, also consider orson charles a former 2012#116th pick also on the roster.Payton stated Hill was not invited to combine a from a small school was under the radar of most teams.

They will probably take a TE in the draft as there are only 3 on the roster and 1 is a practice squad guy.

I think Hill has potential to be really good.
The coaches love this guy.

Cue Clive Walford, Tyler Kroft, and Ben Koyack. All those guys fits the mold of next Benjamin Watson.

I don't want a tight end that loves jesus too much and won't throw a haymaker for a teammate.

Cue the statement..."your logic and reasoning skills need to be improved all over."

Yes I know this is BleacherReport but they break it down pretty well.
Just a very small clip:
It's a pretty lengthy article but includes visual aid to help.

The early glimpses of Hill's true potential were seen during the Saints' 37-31 overtime victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The tight end's 37-yard reception in the second quarter helped set up the Saints' first touchdown of the contest.

Those are good TE's, but none will make it to the 5th round. We aren't drafting a TE before then. As someone already said in this thread...a guy like Blake Bell is who we target. He's projected to go 5th round.

Simply because this team has luck with Miami Tight ends

I like the swagger that U of Miami brings to the table.

Josh is def an excellent athlete. His physical measurable is great and his speed, vertical, size, and broad jump are very comparable to the top athletes at tight end in the NFL. Luckily, somehow he went unnoticed. I think weighing only 230 at his pro day may have hurt his stock. But now he is a 250 pound player, and he still looks fast on the field. I doubt he has lost speed with his extra size, judging from the way he gets up and down the field. He is also supposedly an excellent blocker.
His is a little smaller than Gronkowski, but more athletic.
Another good comparison, is Eric Ebron, drafted in 1st round last year, measurable wise. Ebron is 6'4 250, with 4.6 speed, and went first round.
All signs show that Hill may have been a rare gem that slipped through the cracks.

I'd like to own a new Pontiac TransAm, but it doesn't exist...just like that U of Miami swagger.

"We were doing this study last year with the draft class, and they were talking about some of the top picks at tight end," Payton said at the NFC coaches breakfast, via ESPN.com. "So the scouts had the board, and this is human nature, but the scout would see (Hill as a) free-agent tight end, and kinda say, 'Well, he'll come in Year 1 and probably beat out Josh Hill.'
quote:
"And I'm like, 'He will? I said, 'Well, let's throw the numbers up on the board with their measurables.' And all of a sudden, Josh Hill, you look at a 38-inch vertical jump, he's an 11 broad (jump), three-cone, whatever. And the comparables to the top tight ends in the draft a year ago, I said, 'In every category this guy's better.' There's this perception, we're the same way as coaches, if we require someone as a free agent after the draft. But when you really look at the film and watch him, if I told you this guy was our third-round draft pick, you'd be excited now
