pretty sure you are right, they only had the 32 in first but I "think they have 2 in second and "maybe" 2 in 3rd but I haven't paid any attention to them other then seeing they have 11 picks this year (thought it was 12 but its only 11)
so assuming they give us #32 they still have 10 picks left to bargain with

Butler is the perfect guy to have opposite of Breaux. Having two lockdown CBs will help this defense much more than a rookie selected at 18.

This isn't some underhanded deal. The pats aren't up to anything, they just don't want to pay the big contract.
See chandler jones.
A lock starter at corner, plus a second pick in the first round is the proverbial bird in the hand compared to the titans ofFer.

I would want Butler and the 32nd and swap 3rd rounders
or
maybe the Better option would be the 18th pick straight up for Cooks.
NO Way a swap of Players straight up !!!!

If we swap Cooks for Butler then we are the big losers in this trade.

Lol at Saints fans turning their noses up at Butler after the shite show at CB last season

It's the fact he will tie up close to 10% of our cap.

yes butler wont be cheap to sign but then neither will cooks be next year so I don't see the money as an obstacle, especially when considering butler at CB is more valuable player to us in terms of getting wins and loses then cooks would be

They're putting pressure on Titans to do 5 and 18 for 11 and Cooks. I think Tenn is only willing to give up 18, so far
This, but we might not see this happen until Draft day. Saints hold the power so its really no rush.

Except don;t the Saints have a big bonus to pay Cooks on Monday? Thought I heard that this week. If that is the case , you'll see a deal happen before Monday or Cooks will remain with the Saints in 2017.

700k
Not a deal breaker if we are talking a significant deal

someone mentioned it was $700k, I wouldn't say that's "big money" but its not chump change
I think that's due if he is on the team after today so I think that's what the "get it done by Friday" rumors are about

Plus our paying his bonus marginally raises the value. If we have a deal worked out with the team and, if applicable, an extension worked out with Butler, then the other team may have wanted that as part of the deal.

I think its a given on both sides that both teams will be rewriting new long term contracts on these guys any anything like bonus due will be rolled into signing bonus for them.

depends on if you trust this front office to make good use of #18

I just don't see Malcolm Butler finding success as a Saint.
I want to take my chances with pick #18.

Agreed. Hes not very good in man (which is what we should be playing esp with breaux back), not very strong in press cov, and isnt ideal size (under 6 ft). Hes a slightly bigger, slightly more talented Captain Munnerlyn. great in zone but thats it.

Agree. Let's project this forward. Cooks will make the Pats offense better than Butler makes the Saints defense. At the end of next year, it's easy to picture Cooks having had a season with the Patriots like Randy Moss(OK hyperbole)or at least a supercharged Wes Welker - he is a deadly weapon that Brady hasn't had for years. And oh look, the Saints defense was a smidge better with a reasonable starter at one corner position. Plus Cooks is cheaper, therefore he is worth more than Butler straight up. I say no deal unless they throw in a good pick or two.

Except the Saints offense will still be at the top of the league. Also, how he does elsewhere makes no difference to me.
I'm not a huge fan of butler either but how cooks does on another team should not matter at all.
