Isn't the deadline to sign Brees to an extension tomorrow?

No. He's already under contract for this year. He can sign an extension at any point this offseason.

If by "deadline" you mean FA starts today and the money would help us sign players then yes.

Over the cap has us at $8.5 (which is more accurate because of the half million hold rule). And the contracts for Hooman and Kelemete aren't up yet so it'll be less.

So yeah we do have room and we can do a couple of backloaded big deals, but extending Brees would allow us to not have to do a ridiculous backload.

But we technically don't have to have the money until a player signs and we need more space. You can still agree to terms.
