D and Rushing transitions in any condition, we're close on the D and need to be a run first and physical offense, what a luxury Drew will be with that kind of team.

Look at Carolina, SF, an Seattle left. Run first, defensive teams, granted mobile qbs but stud Lbs

Sean Payton is too arrogant to be that type of coach.

A mobile qb that could fly out of the sky would be nice for us. But other than that i would love to see us play a more conservative style of play. Ala Carolina and others who just sit and wait for the other team to make mistakes and rely on the defense. But as long as Coach Payton is here. We will pass first, and be too cute for our own good at times.

I agree.

Possibly go defense early in the draft.

Build a dominant defense.

I was extremely encouraged by how our defense played this year.

This. Not run first, just balanced.

For all that say Payton is too arrogant, revisit 2009 numbers

Balance would be nice.

And our defense did much better this year, but we aren't as good as SF, Carolina or Seattle yet. We still need a few more good players at key spots.

I should add I see some parallels in Brees and Elway late in his career. What I mean is Elway had great passing numbers. But it was not till they had Terrell Davis pounding the ball, and a punishing defense that he hoisted the trophy. So in that regard, I think that we need to reestablish the run, and of course fill the holes on our defense. Upgrading part of that offensive line would help also.

2009 is a bit of a mirage. They had good rushing numbers because they were running the ball at the end of blowout games.

I like what they did in 06. The numbers weren't great, but Reggie and Duece were used to perfection.

We do, and we have the personnel to do it. It'll save Brees' arm. I know it was windy yesterday, and was hard to throw , but his arm fatigue has been noticeable the past two years.

Defensive/ run first team with $100 million QB. Sounds like a plan.

Do you really want a Les Miles offense? NO....it's boring and when you face a team with a great run defense...you are screwed.

There def needs to be more balance though. Which SP did move toward in the playoffs. The problem is that the O did not execute when it counted yesterday.

Yeah, mirage is too strong of a word. They did do some power running with Mike Bell. I also remember thinking their run game got better in preseason the second Brown got hurt and Bushrod took his place.

I said this yesterday, and the difference between us and the 9ers, panthers, and seahawks would be that we still have Drew. We can turn it on and attack when we need to. We just can't throw 50 passes a game anymore, his arm will fall off. If we change philosophy, we may be able to get an extra year out of him
