So I have seen Doug Martin twice this year. I was impressed after what he did with the Saints. But our defense is atrocious and is on pace to set the record for most yards allowed in a season.

But after watching him play last night vs Minnesota a top 5 rushing defense, This guy has the goods.

I know hindsight is 20/20 but looking at what we gave up for Ingram.....Martin was the 31st pick last year so he would have been there for us to pick up that RB. I am not sure if the timeline was rushed becuase of injuries to Ivory and Thomas and losing Bush, but I curious to a comparison talent wise. I know stats are not even valid.

Do you think Martin would be a productive back in the Saints Pass happy scheme?

this is key. The guy is a stud, no question. But, he wouldn't get near the amount of touches with the Saints who are running back by committee. He'd be another versatile weapon for sure though, that would be 3 backs who could kill it catching the ball.

If all they have Martin was an iso play up the middle he wouldn't be as productive either.

Martin plays and runs hard.
Ingram tweets about playing and running hard.

I liked Martin going into the draft. I was kind of upset that the Bucs drafted him. He was impressive. He is like a more talented PT.

Yall go back and look at Martin's run from the goal line last night. THAT is how you run when there is no hole to run through.

Martin is the real deal. So far, Ingram is just a pretender.

Yeah I thought his back was going to snap the way he got bent up, but he powered through

If the Saints would have had a 1st round pick for the 2012 NFL draft Goodell would have taken the 1st round pick instead of the 2nd. This means the Saints would have had no chance for DM.

Ingram vs. present day Curtis Martin may be a better question.

outside of the TD run he had, I wasn't that impressed by him. He is a better dual threat then Ingram though, no question. I thought we did a better job of stopping the run against the Bucs than we have all year. Minnesota has been a pretty good defense so far and he gutted them. I guess you could try and blame the short week or whatever but Minnesota had been a tough team to beat at home this year.

Yes.

I liked the Ingram pick because of our need for a RB. Who would have thought we would go out and sign Sproles after that?

Ingram has been a good short yardage back. It is pretty sad that is all he has going for him right now though

I agree with you. But I wonder if the NFL would have taken away this years first round pick too if not for the Ingram trade. They probably would
