And of the seven guys who faced a greater percentage of 8-man fronts, only Ryan Mathews (3.8 ypc) had fewer yards per carry than Ingram (3.9 ypc).

So...

Interesting. It's like they knew he was in to run the ball...

Exactly, which is why it was just pure idiocy to continue to do it.

easy there, this board doesn't like facts or statistics, especially when it doesn't support their irrational hate.

What do you expect when we spent two 1st round picks on him. If he would have been a 3rd round pick the criticism would be way less. Plenty of other RB's face 7 and 8 in the box and still do well.

I guess it must be irrational considering the O line he plays behind. Only one of the best guard duo's in the NFL. A top 10 center during the last two years. Pretty good blocking FB's, TE's, and WR's. The supporting cast for him is elite

patriots first

the first rounders cancel out, therefore we traded a second rounder to draft ingram

How is it Ingram's fault where he was drafted?
He had no control over this.

You can blame Payton and Loomis for that.
But no one does.

Ingram still sucks so what's your point.

Love that bama actually claims that screw job from 2011 as a title. They should give that title to the rec

Playcalling has a lot to do with Ingrams struggles.

This.

Don't get me wrong, OP..I get that you like and defend him more often because he played at bama, but the guy NEEDS to really produce.

Can't really blame the saints playcalling anymore. He just has been very un-spectacular. Showed flashes of brilliance? Absolutely. I would love to see the guy break out, but he needs to do it THIS year

I say you can now more than ever. When we started spreading it out and doing different things with him and keeping him in longer, he played better.

Ingram was also #1 in the league in sucking fricking dick.

Maybe I should reiterate... 6 of the 7 guys who faced 8-man fronts at a greater percentage than Ingram had more yards per carry. He just hasn't been very productive. End of story.

Here's hoping that turns around this year

It wasn't just people in the box. It was literally "he only does this, everyone on this defense, in the stadium, and watching at home KNOWS he's getting the ball".

He played better when we ran more up tempo and passed more often, that was for sure. But it was because the D was on their heels. I would like to see CONSISTENT 4/5 yard runs on first down from ingram as well as 3rd and short 1st down piledriving runs(he is capable of doing this)

Ingram is the "big grater" type RB the saints need . He needs to produce, and i hope he will..

Ingram has done next to nothing his two years in the league. If he is going to "break out" this should be his year, he has the best play caller in the league back and the guy who moved up to get him so we should expect more production. We'll see, I think the guy is mediocre at best. Ingram was a very good college back but I don't think his game translates to the NFL, I hope I'm wrong.

while you are onesiding an observation, let it be know that the run blocking has been less than impressive for years now!

hopefully Payton watched enough gametape while eating doritos to have a solid plan for this year.
