If Brees looks great this year, and passes for 5K, what kind of contract can we expect?

Also,

-When do you think negotiations will get serious?

-When do you think a contract will get done?

This is all assuming he plays well.

Pay very close attention to Derek Carr and Raiders extension. Drew will want market money, market still needs to get set.

At this point I would hope(key word) for a top QB money/3 year deal if negotiated after the season with 2 of those years fully guaranteed

I've come to the conclusion from this board that if he
A) asks for a lot of money people will say he's greedy and
B) if he takes very little money people will say the Saints are retarded for not paying Drew market value for all he's done for the city of New Orleans

He'll rightfully so ask for market value for at least 3 years, if they make the playoffs. If they don't I don't know if he resigns here at all.

The last minute.

More than 40 would be guaranteed. Try 60.

Well if Drew has a great yr and the team shows promise then Drew will have a decision to make.

Does he wanna make one last run at the Lombardi or is he more interested in chasing every last dollar before he retires?

Hopefully his decision will be making one final Super Bowl run

I'm sure you mean pay attention to Stafford? Carr is not gonna get a contract that makes him the highest paid QB in the NFL. Not yet anyway

Nah, i mean derek carr. But between Carr, Stafford, Cousins , maybe a rodgers extension, they are all pretty critical to seeing what elite market value here is pretty soon.

Will be interesting to see. Doesn't he have a cap hit of $18 million or so next year no matter what?

Call me crazy but I'm not sure Drew is going to be too keen to move his family of 6 to another city to chase a ring for a year or maybe 2 at 40 years old. New schools, new home environment, etc. Especially if he would then plan to move to San Diego, or to somewhere for a broadcasting job, or stay in NOLA with family after career and do something locally.

Maybe if he hadn't won a title already but I think as long as we're offering fair market value and don't fall off a cliff he'll stick around. People read way too much into one comment made at the end of a frustrating season.

If he has another year like last, you bet your arse he will. Hell even if he regresses slightly. He was in the MVP conversation for much of the season and he doesn't have a 5 year option as he wasn't a first rounder. He's going to break the bank.
