I think of all the college QBs I've seen he best represents the kind of QB Sean Payton needs for his system. Before anyone has fit, no I'm not saying that we should get rid of Brees. He unfortunately is on the back side of his career and now would be a good time to draft a guy to come and learn from him for a couple of years then take over the reins.

I don't understand these threads.

Brees could have 4 or 5 more seasons of awesome production.
How long do you want these drafted QB's to ride the pine?

Because you don't know what if Brees only has 2-3 years left. Will you trust the team to Daniel? Why not grab a QB that will fit Payton's system than wait to the last minute and hope you get somebody that will work for you. Beside wouldn't you want your guy to learn from Brees?

I think Payton is going to move on once Brees retires.

Saints will draft Stephen Rivers in a couple years. Since we are only supposed to draft LSU players.

*IF* he lasts that long. A lot can happen in a year.

You base this on 2 games of shitty oline play and a ton of dropped passes?

Sure, he's on the backside of his career but a QB who gets as little as he doesn (historically, not this season) should have no problem being productive until his contract is up

Put up 500+ on a decent LSU defense last year.

Saints defense sucks, draft QB who'll never be a starter in the NFL.

he's coming of his best season and the best season in NFL history. He just signed a $100 million contract. Why would we invest more money into the QB position?

With today's new rookie contracts not being outrageous burdens on the payroll, as long as the coach fricking wants.
