I hope all coaches especially ours learn from this game.

This could just have easily been the way the Falcons game ended up.

Play to win the damn game. Two opportunities to end the game and both times the Saints play it safe. The drive after the 4th down stop was inexcusable. Way too early to milk the clock at that point.

They did go for the kill. Do you not remember the fade to Colston when running the ball would have been the safe move? Just because the pass play that was called sucked doesn't change the fact that they did go for the win.

Ok.

I hope we go for the win and call smart plays.

I'm sure nobody regrets this outcome more then Sean Payton, he always preaches to be aggressive and play smart football. Did the opposite of that in the end of the game

Shitty call, plus they did the safe thing and ran on the first two downs. Once again, way too early to try and milk the clock.

I agree, but what does that have to do with my response to the OP who said they played it safe, which isn't true?

Of course it's true. We ran 5 of our last 6 plays. And achieved no first downs.

You're telling me that isn't playing it safe?

The third down play where he sent Brees on a bootleg run is the play that pissed me off. The defense stopped a hall of fame QB twice and instead of going three wide and trying to pick up the first, they try that which was playing it a little too safe. You can't put the defense in that position three times. Defense did good overall. Held the pats to 6 yards up to that point.

Yes, it was a bad play call, which is why I specifically said the call sucked. But your argument was that they played it safe and didn't go for the win. They threw it when the safe play would have been to run it. That's pretty much the opposite of what your argument was.

They threw a pass to try icing the game when the safe play would have been to run it and burn more clock. Is this really that hard for you to understand? Calling a pass play on that third down is the complete opposite of playing it safe.

That whole episode reminded me of Dale Brown going to the 4 corners offense every time he got a 4 point lead in the second half.

There was a games a fewyears ago... Against Tampa I think in mid December. All Payton had to do was get a first down to end the game. He called a reverse... Devery to Bush (maybe the other way around). Handoff bobbled, fumble, Tampa recovers... Drives for the winning score.

Payton just tries to get too cute every now and then. It's the price we pay for having a coach who is a genius most of the time.

Yes, the coaches need to teach gallette to not get held every play and teach greer how to defend a perfect pass by one of the best qbs and coaches in nfl history.
