How NFL ready is Cooks?

I feel that we wouldn't have traded up to draft the kid unless he was ready to go. He played in a pro-style system in college. He has the rare combination of measurables and production (insane production). When I watch the kid, I feel like he's rather polished.
I think right away we can fast pass it to him 3-4 times a game. If the lane is there, quick slant and let him go. I think we can bring back the fake end-around run up the middle we ran so effectively in 06. I think we incorporate bubble screens into the playbook.

I can't add anything else.

Plus he already played in this system since Mike Riley was part of Sean Payton's staff.

This kid was born to play in this offense

The board has already crowned him offensive rookie of the year. So I'll say a majority of the answers will be 'very ready'.

Ok, but what's your opinion? It's an open question.

from video highlights....nothing great
ball has to be perfect, doesn't reach for it, little worried that he'll get concussed and/or lose himself out on the field(not know where he should go after getting jammed)

I watched his Boise St. bowl game highlights…there was nothing about those highlights that blew me out of the water to make me think he would be juking NFL defenses…to put in perspective, Tavon Austin didn't do shite his first few games in the NFL and he was a top 10 pick with similar numbers.
I think his potential is a WR1 though

Sproles was unable to be that threat consistently last season and it was a big reason why Drew was forcing the ball to Graham. We weren't going to get the ball down field unless it was to him. It's a big reason why teams were giving us the underneath route to Colston so much at the end of the year. They knew it would just be 4-5 yards and not much else.

Cooks is vanilla, I don't see him creating plays...he's just open, it's more the people he's going against

I think its two things, the decline of Sproles and us being way too predictable on offense. We've ran those same plays to Sproles since he came here. First year worked extremely well, and then last year you could see the game @Carolina they knew the play was coming and their LBs shut it down.
He may be a Sproles/Moore replacement, but we definitely need to become more less predictable than using him in just short passes/across the middle. I think he can become a jack of all trades similar to DJax.
Honestly, I'd be okay if he started out slow like Austin and start blowing them up at the season end ready for the playoffs.

I just watched it. He had a couple of nice catches. There were some throws that were off. The bubble screen wasn't working. The blocking just wasn't there. He did seem to do alright against press man, although he mostly faced off man.

I know Payton overused the shite out of the rb screen but I actually think Cooks will open that up a good bit. Just when the defense thinks a bubble screen is coming, PT can slip out to the other side after the lbs have been pulled towards Cooks. Not saying we will definitely do that, but I think SP wanted to trade up to snag him because he knew Cooks could at least add the threat of a new dimension to this offense that can allow it to be even more explosive.

From what I've seen the kid is very ready. He's smart and picks things up quick, knows the routes and how to run them, has excellent hands, and is physically ready.
If he keeps working on his hand fighting to get off the line (not that he's bad at it but he could be better) he could be near unstoppable when single covered.

Try watching more than one game?
In other words, people taking a guy's worst game and using it as the norm.

What does that have to do with being smart and picking things up quickly?
