Was just curious what you guys think. Has Bush turned the corner in the NFL finally living up to his hype? He had a very good average per rush this year. He seems like hes heading north and south more now instead of dancing and watching how he finishes runs now by engaging defenses instead of running out of bounds. Has he finally matured into an NFL back? What say you?

He has definately improved. It's staying healthy that's the issue.

i think his contract being up has something to do with it... i love bush but before last week i dont think anyone would pay him more than were paying him... and he loves the nola... so in lamens terms... he wants it more now

Reggie's a competitor. Don't think he doesn't feel like he's got something to prove out there. He's definitely progressed as a rb and improved on pass blocking skills and some mental mistakes and hopefully with the fumbling. But first and foremost, he's got to be able to stay healthy. He was coming back from the micro fracture surgery last offseason, hopefully with a healthy offseason, he can be a dynamic beast next year.

He's owed over 8 mill, which would make him the highest paid rb in the league. There's no way he's there yet and NOONE in the league is gonna pay that for him. He's prob busting his arse so he can renegotiate and get half of that.

I disagree, however, if he continues to play lights out in the playoffs it will deffinitely get him a good bit more money. I'd say 5 million max at this point though.

Why does it always have to be about money? Maybe he's busting his arse because he wants to be a better player.

You think we have the upper hand in renegotiating with Reggie after these type of performances in the playoffs... you are kidding yourself.

some article said he is finally healthy this year. and before he got hurt he just wasn't used to the speed of the nfl.

who knows if either one has anything to do with his performance last week, but it makes me hopeful of whats to come.

Upper hand? not really. Like I said, he has to keep playing like he has been to get the upper hand against us. I know the Saints don't want to lose him, but at the same time he isn't worth 8 million. Not many people are. He may get 8 million incentive based, but his body of work since 2006 isn't worth that, and I think he knows that.

Some team will PAY Reggie if he's cut. He's turned the corner and it's obvious. He can easily go out there and say he was underutilized this year and averaged 5.6 yards a pop.

He's the number 2 overall pick, so 8 million is what you pay when you pick that high. This isn't rocket science.

Besides, next year is uncapped and we'll free up more money by releasing Grant and others who aren't performing.

Injuries and touches have hampered him.

Even last season when he was leading the league in TDs until he got hurt. Then late this season (I assume as he got healthier) you could see vast improvement in his game, but touches were limited. Part of me thinks that was because SP was perhaps saving something for the playoffs.

If anything it makes me less impressed with him as a whole. The fact he only has that kind of output when the money is staring him right in the face. The rest of the season he was running out of bounds to avoid contact and slacking compared to this past weekend.

I think his style of play is just not sustainable over the course of a full season. BUT, if he plays sparingly over the year and has games like he did in 06 vs Chicago and last week against the Cards I'm fine with it and he's doing his job.

It's not about his salary so much as his cap number, I think he'll restructure. And he needs to bring it for more than just one game to have much leverage. This isn't the first time we've had threads on here asking if Reggie finally "gets it".
